The President has little to say concerning the price of fuel. And there is no shortage of either petroleum or refinery capacity at present. We are exporting both gas and diesel by the tanker load. The price will drop only if the world wide demand for fuel drops. Don't see that happening unless we have another economic debacle.

"While the U.S. is becoming less reliant on foreign crude, the world is becoming more reliant on gasoline and diesel fuel refined in the U.S. This week, we learned that in 2011, the U.S. became a net exporter of gasoline, diesel and other fuels for the first time since 1949. Such refined products were the top U.S. export in 2011, beating out such staples of U.S. manufacturing as Detroit’s autos and Boeing’s (BA) airplanes.

“We have become the China of refined products,” says Fadel Gheit, a senior energy analyst at Oppenheimer & Co. “We’re dumping product into other countries’ backyards.”

I guess there is no reason behind Obama's policy decisions on a gulf oil moritorium, government incentives on the Chevy Volt, and standing firm against the keystone pipeline. This has absolutely nothing to do with this administration pouring millions of taxpayer dollars into green corporations such as solundra. All this is purely, PURELY coincidential.

Perhaps the media would rather devert attention of Obama's policy choices in light of his re-election campaign. Can't expect the media today to be completely unbiased in who they want to see in the White House for 2013.

The suppliers can lower the prices, but what matters to them are the profits.
Ever heard of OPEC and such?

They will slow production if their profits are going down.
