A recent Washington Post op-ed by Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius suggests a new motto for the Obama Administration: "Home of the Whopper." The Sebelius piece contains no fewer than 10 health care whoppers, including:

Whopper Number 1: Americans are too stupid to buy their own health insurance.

SEBELIUS: Americans are left to worry about whether they'll get laid off and lose their insurance or wake up from surgery with a $10,000 bill because they didn't read the fine print on their policy.

FACT: Most health care policies are fairly straightforward. My own Health Savings Account plan is so simple that even a congressman could understand it. I pay everything up to the deductible, and the insurance company pays everything after the deductible. According to the America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), the number of Americans covered by these plans has grown from 0 in 2004 to 8 million today.

Whopper Number 2: Americans can't get coverage for preexisting conditions.

When did health care become an entitled right anyway? And when did it become the tax payers job to fund universal health care? I missed that nugget in our nations Constitution, Bill of Rights, or Declaration of Independence.. The only things we are promised and entitled to as a result of our independence is just that, individual independence and the ability to obtain "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." So long as we our repectful and non-violent towards our fellow man/woman, we have an individual right to succeed and strive for endless bounds, and chase our personal dreams and hearts desires without the fear and smothering of big government or elitist. After all, it was the opposition of a big government monarch and elitism that was the very basis for which this great country was founded! However this fundemental concept of independence and self relience which make this Republic great has been constantly threatened throughout the past century by elitist and a government which continues to expand and push the notion of a needed nanny-state, collectivism and staged "fairness" which is nothing more than a cheap tactic to expand government and further the elected elite's agenda in D.C.

I don't trust this government to balance a dinner check correctly, much less our health care which consist of 14% of nations GDP. This idea that government can fix things has a pretty poor track record. And the idea that this public option, if passed, won't lead to a total take over of health care by the federal government is also naive.

Competition? Hardly. Not when the government need not adhere to the free markets, but rathercan depend indefinitly upon the federal reserve and China. The government will be able to set its own prices without zero backlash from true markets, because it has unlimitless funds in which to operate. Insurance companies simply do not have that option and ultimatly will be rendered extict, leaving the American people with one choice: The federal government. And just like medicare, medicaid, social security, and mostly every other social program schemed up the government, our tax dollars wil be squandered and wasted while the elite fly around in jumbo jets, warm their mansions, and take lavish vacations. God help us if this healthcare proposal passes.
