Two columnists have compared the Obama administration's expansive definition of "combatants" to the conduct of Trayvon Martin killer George Zimmerman.

Obama has come under criticism from some corners after the New York Times reported that he has deemed "all military-age males in a strike zone" to be "combatants," even if there is no hard evidence of their involvement in terrorist activities.

The Times further wrote that officials said the definition was logical, since "people in an area of known terrorist activity, or found with a top Qaeda operative, are probably up to no good." Some in government, the paper reported, felt that this was a deliberate effort to undercount civilian casualties resulting from drone strikes.

Should Arizona police arrest all people hanging around in areas where illegal aliens tend to frequent? There are known corridors for human and drug trafficking, for instance. The administration has accused the Arizona police of racism and profiling. Why is it that Obama can claim that young males in certain areas must be terrorists and get away with killing them? Of course, he is just trying to cover up the collateral damage from drone strikes, but if we hold him to this logic, then he needs to change the rhetoric toward states who want immigration laws upheld. And he needs to speak out against Sharpton, Jackson, Farrakhan and others who jumped to conclusions in the Martin case. Zimmerman has a more believable story than Obama.
