Obama Abandoned The Iranian People In 2009

If Obama had "assisted" during the "green revolution", I have no doubt that poster like yourself would have rallied around the Mullahs, just like you've rallied around Assad.

Putin wouldn't have had it any other way.

You are at least consistent in your dementias.

We’ll soon be getting a better understanding of how bad the previous administration was as our current administration makes progress.

In 1953 the CIA funded and backed the military coup which ousted the democratically elected Prime minister of Iran, and installed a puppet dictator called the Shah, who brutally ruled the country for the next 26 years. Later followed by the Ayatollah's who are in power today.
It was all over oil, and the Iran people have suffered for 70 years because of America's interference in their countries affairs.

And we still seem to be bewildered as to why the hate us?? ..... :dunno:

The past is the past. Different time and enemies. Do you not think the Russians and others have had a major influence in Iran and other nations? The CIA have also interfered in places like Italy which allowed them to defeat communism, they have interfered in the Iranian nuclear ambitions to defeat that.

Nothing is perfect, and often you have to consider the broader issue. This is why there are always debates about places such as Vietnam, Korea and the like, but one has to appreciate that sometimes doing nothing can end up becoming far more dangerous than choosing an imperfect ally.

The Iranian people wanted Democracy and held a free election. Britain and the U.S. didn't like the person who won the election, staged a military coup, and installed a puppet dictator to rule the country and keep the low priced oil flowing.

So much for American ideals of spreading Democracy and freedom. .....

I know the history. A dumb thing to do, yes, and Carter doubled the injury by not having Khomeini throttled on his way to the airport in Paris.

The current regime is dangerous beyond Iran, and will eventually have to be dealt with.

Iranians are brainwashed by the Russians and Chinese. You think those systems are appealing? That's what they will get if they don't elect pro-Western, American"ish" leaders.

Everyone has their horse in an election, no shame in wanting a more pro-American leader any more than the comrades want their own horse to win. You are going back to 1979, America was far more dependent on the oil there than now, I read the history books and the oil crises. Americans needed to cut down on gas consumption and conserve. The entire economy could have been brought to it's knees.

Again, different time and situation.
