Obama 2008: Jerusalem will remain Israel's capital

Israel was attacked and drove the invaders back and received more land, that is the fortunes of war. the Palistinians would do well to remember -“Victori spolia”, 'To the victor, the spoils'

Point of fact, the Palestinians were living there when Israel was "given" the land. If China came in and gave your house to Canada, would you go quietly?

In 1948 one-third of the population of Mandate Palestine imposed a Jewish state on the majority by force of arms, sending over 700,000 Arabs and others into exile. In 1967 Jews enlarged their holdings by illegally annexing Jerusalem, and they are about to employ the same tactic in Area C:

"Under international law, Israel’s rule in the West Bank and Gaza is considered 'belligerent occupation' and, therefore, its actions must be justified by military necessity only.

"If there is no occupation, Israel has no military grounds to hold on to the territories.

"In that case, it must either return the land to the Palestinians, and move out the settlers, or defy international law by annexing the territories, as it did earlier with East Jerusalem, and establish a state of Greater Israel.

Annexation, however, poses its own dangers. Israel must either offer the Palestinians citizenship and wait for a non-Jewish majority to emerge in Greater Israel; or deny them citizenship and face pariah status as an apartheid state.

Israel's Annexation Plan

Greater Israel...stretching from the Mediterranean Sea to the Jordan river and ruled by a Jewish minority...wouldn't Moses be proud?

If they had tanks, planes and guns to back it up, yes.

Who said the Jews were not motivated to have their old nation back? What made you think the Jews would be nice to those that seek to destroy them, not to mention the religious strife there between two major religions.
Moses didn't seem tomind the slaughter children and men by Gods hand.

Ok, so would I, but I would like to think no one would call us the attackers ;)

The US's hands are not clean from doing the same in this nation to the natives. very few cared about their plight. Which they finally over came.
The Palistinians got a bad deal I know, but the Jews are loose and ready to kill to have Israel.

I'll start with what all the good "conservatives" want to hear. Obama should not have said that. That was a major faux pas. Which is probably why he had to correct himself afterward.

Now, having said that, I think making a comment here in the states about it, and then backtracking, is not as bad as going into Israel and doing it, and then backing it up and making it clear you mean it. In the "War on Terror", that's handing our enemies a major recruitment tool.

It's late and the bottle's empty.
Can you explain that?

What Obama said and the State Department told him the policy was is different. Obama did not backtrack on any other than positioning himself and the govt. straightened him out. If Romney is elected he also will have to follow previous US positions on Jewruselum.

I have Jewish friend that lived in London, then he migrated to Natanya, Israel . he says that everything is very expensive and basics like cable are hard to get and even harder to get fixed. They speak mostly Hebrew and Russian, for him it is hard to find English speaking people. the tenet of apts he lives in uses solar to heat water, and sometimes it is not hot or warm. The healthcare is better than England. He loves it there but he is not an Israel born Jew so he has a lower class position.

What makes you think Jews alone are entitled to land their ancestors pillaged thousands of years ago?
Do the Cherokee have equal rights to Alabama?

The Fourth Geneva Convention is more applicable to Israel today than some imaginary 3000 year-old god is:

"Section III. Occupied territories
Articles 47-78 impose substantial obligations on occupying powers. As well as numerous provisions for the general welfare of the inhabitants of an occupied territory, an occupier may not forcibly deport protected persons, or deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into occupied territory (Art.49)."

If you're a Redskins fan you don't go into Dallas Stadium and say Jerry Jones sucks dick.

Pictures aren't accurate. The original grant to the Jews gave the Palestinians all the land east of the River Jordan. Land they still have.
