NYSE may be sold to ice

The main attraction for ICE is not NYSE Euronext's stock trading business -- which has been in decline since the 2009 financial crisis and the industry shift to electronic stock trading. ICE is targeting NYSE's LIFFE derivative exchange, which is based in London and will enable ICE to gain access to Europe's sought-after derivatives business, RBC Europe analyst Peter Lenardos said in a research note.

They're keeping a two fold HQ - NY and Atlanta. This just consolidates two companies, like a merger. It means nothing else as far as their operations go as of now.

But you two fucking brainiacs keep up the entertaining commentary.

They are not going to abandon NYC. It's STILL the center of the financial world.

They will probably move administrative duties to a cheaper locale. They can keep in-touch online.

Yea, SOME people will lose their jobs. Nothing earth-shattering, tho.

are your memes bumping into each other?

I've talked to my former colleagues.

Looks like they are talking about moving operations to South Carolina. Which means they will be out of jobs soon.

Have any idea what the tax revenue consequences will be for the State of New York? If most of the transactions are moved out of state, presumably the NYSE profit would be out of state. Will NY lose on the deal?

Not sure really. The NYSE isn't the huge tax revenue generator it once was..mainly because it's not the trade through market anymore. There are plenty of alternatives to the NYSE. In any case those revenues were offset by many of the sweetheart deals the NYSE got. MetroTech was built specifically for the NYSE use..and they wound up moving the datacenter out of New York. Along with that, the floor sits on some very expensive real estate and it's little more then a big tv studio now.

So this is kind of like one city luring a football team away from another city by promising to build them a new stadium. Sort of...

Think Tim Tebow will come with the package?

Sure it does.

People are going to be losing jobs.
Then you should be celebrating, for two reasons:

1. It heralds the "death of capitalism!!"

2. More people on government assistance, which stimulates the economy.

any of the more market savy posters wish to tell us what they see this resulting in?

The biggest impact will likely be in the asset widget flux capacitor market sector, mid to large cap, and anything to do with plutonium based nanthrocites, especially those related to industrial semigraphs and, I'd guess, rivet-glassed dildo related squirt parameters. And the real gamblers among us will probably rely heavily on strong growth with high yields for the near future at least.

As always though rule of thumb Numero Uno...only invest what you can afford to lose.

TM invested her mind years ago. The stock went belly-up.

so much for the GREAT understanding the right claims to have of the world finacial market.

they cant find much to say about this groundbreaking story or the libor scandal ripping us off to the tune of 3 billion.

that is just the tip of the libor ice berg

Has anyone you've ever screeched "shut the fuck up" to actually shut the fuck up?

No?

Sadly, there is no medication for your internet impotence.

what an impressive level of international financial makets understanding you are displaying

In the face of an historical event in the markets this is the level the right takes the conversation to.

Dear readers on the internets.

You dont need any more proof that the right is full of complete idiots who do nothing but spew crap in the face of facts

should the regulators approve this sell?

will you trash them if they nix it?

will you support them if they allow the sale?

should there be NO regulation of this at all?
