NYSE may be sold to ice

any of the more market savy posters wish to tell us what they see this resulting in?

weird

I thought all the people on the right were such great experts on financial matters?

they could post their thrill at this good news for the economy.

maybe they have no idea what will happen due to this?

Apparently they have not been told yet by their pundit leaders what position to take on this.
Later today they will know what to say.

The main attraction for ICE is not NYSE Euronext's stock trading business -- which has been in decline since the 2009 financial crisis and the industry shift to electronic stock trading. ICE is targeting NYSE's LIFFE derivative exchange, which is based in London and will enable ICE to gain access to Europe's sought-after derivatives business, RBC Europe analyst Peter Lenardos said in a research note.

They're keeping a two fold HQ - NY and Atlanta. This just consolidates two companies, like a merger. It means nothing else as far as their operations go as of now.

But you two fucking brainiacs keep up the entertaining commentary.

I've talked to my former colleagues.

Looks like they are talking about moving operations to South Carolina. Which means they will be out of jobs soon.

Have any idea what the tax revenue consequences will be for the State of New York? If most of the transactions are moved out of state, presumably the NYSE profit would be out of state. Will NY lose on the deal?

Not sure really. The NYSE isn't the huge tax revenue generator it once was..mainly because it's not the trade through market anymore. There are plenty of alternatives to the NYSE. In any case those revenues were offset by many of the sweetheart deals the NYSE got. MetroTech was built specifically for the NYSE use..and they wound up moving the datacenter out of New York. Along with that, the floor sits on some very expensive real estate and it's little more then a big tv studio now.

They are not going to abandon NYC. It's STILL the center of the financial world.

They will probably move administrative duties to a cheaper locale. They can keep in-touch online.

Yea, SOME people will lose their jobs. Nothing earth-shattering, tho.

The biggest impact will likely be in the asset widget flux capacitor market sector, mid to large cap, and anything to do with plutonium based nanthrocites, especially those related to industrial semigraphs and, I'd guess, rivet-glassed dildo related squirt parameters. And the real gamblers among us will probably rely heavily on strong growth with high yields for the near future at least.

As always though rule of thumb Numero Uno...only invest what you can afford to lose.
