NY Post Cartoon: Racist?

Please do me a favor and reread your reply. It reeks of ignorance. I can smell it through my computer. Now "taintwallow", racism would be defined as "the hatred of one person by another, or the belief that another person is less than human because of skin color, language, customs, place of birth or any factor that supposedly reveals the basic nature of that person." Nowhere in this political cartoon does the cartoonist mention any form of race. Chimps are humans' closest relatives, yet they are not as intelligent. Congress passes a ridiculous "stimulus" bill, which was not intelligent at all. Now... wouldn't be logical to, hmm, use a chimp to portray the lack of intelligence? So yes, put away the race race card. And if it offends you, buy a box of tissues.

Your side is claiming those who say they are offended are lying: fact

No, my side is saying that the artist did not intend for it to be offensive. There may be another side to this argument that says those people are lying, but I'm not on it.

I say this guy who drew it cant be so stupid as to really think NO ONE would see it as racist. He is trying to save his fucking job so he lied.

So what makes you any different from the people you're pointing fingers at? You and they both are assuming what someone else feels or think, so you all look like goddamn morons.

Now you can call all black people + the others like me who also think it racist even though I'm not black are all just lying but it is very clear that you chose to believe one asshole trying to save his job instead of ....oh ....lets say....... 60% of the population.

99% of statistics are made up, but 100% of what you say is bullshit.

you can find it pretty easily, aCTUALLY

Radio host who called Condoleeza Rice 'Aunt Jemima' criticized | Article from AP Worldstream | HighBeam Research

Black News

i don't think it was all that widespread and most people took exception to it, regardless of their politics. at least, i'd like to think so.
Thanks. I agree, that wasn't very nice. Was it racist? I dunno... As for Belafonte...I don't think what he said was racist.

Saying people are acting like caricatures doesn't always equate racism.

fair enough, but i think some people would consider calling a black woman aunt jemima or a black man a house n*gger racist. i would, for example.

I think it does too. Particularly when it's used often. Some racists do not use those words but their racism becomes apparent when you begin to realize that the person keeps harping one some aspect of the race or it's culture to the without ever using the obviously racist words.

If that's true, and Obama is the chimp full of bullet holes, the cartoon is racist.

I have a hard time agreeing that a black man calling another black man a house ****** is racist.

I can't make up my mind on the Aunt Jemima question. I certainly wouldn't say something like that.

as long as we believe in these kinds of double standards racism will persist,,

I dont think you are a very good judge of what will stop racism if you are unwilling to even listen to black people complain about racism wihtout screaming "race card" at them every time they call it out.

Maybe you dont understand what the pot , kettle , black thing means?

Maybe you don't understand what my point was. YOU'RE saying that WT and others only see one side of the argument, when you're no fucking different. Pot. Kettle. Black.

You're an idiot, and I have class in 20 minutes.

Yes it is racist and those that deny it is are full of crap.

The person who drew this can not do what he does for a living and not realize the impact this would have on some and the editor is an idiot if he didnt realize it.

People were offended by it so they were just fucking wrong huh?

Now that people are offended what do they do? They call them liars.

When you offend someone and then tell them they are lying about being offended you are a complete piece of shit.

Typical. People like you are so blind from the true meaning of things like this. The artist is simply saying we might as well have monkeys (or chimps) write the "stimulus" bill since the dumbass' in congress seem to not think logically. But instead, becuase the cartoon goes against obama and his socialist ways, they mark it as racism. I'm sick and tired of the race card.

RACE CARD????????

Look you taintwallow , that is a racists way out of NOT facing the FACT that this cartoon DID offend people.

Now that they are offended you call them LIARS.

If you used this same tact when someone said your wife looked like a whale you would not be married for long huh?

And I pointed out to you That it was them only seeing one side of it VERY clearly here.

When your in class try to fucking learn something new.

If you are truely unaware of the racial sterotype of black people being compared to the great apes then you are not qualified to speak on the issue of race relations. If this is not a referance to Obama then why does the Right persist in calling this the Obama spending bill?

Your dishonesty is showing.

I'm not giving a shit what you think..

There is no doubt about it....If you equate blacks and monkeys....this cartoon is racist....

Its a good thing I don't equate blacks with monkeys

And there you have, it the arguement ends up with people saying "I dont care what you think".

That is exactly what the "race card" line means.

You people say it when you want to dismiss racism that the black community brings to the public attention.

Got racism?

If I call you hysterical, am I being sexist? If I say Del is a Paddy, am I being racist? I don't think so. I think you can legitimately criticize your own gender or ethnic equals without being considered racist or sexist.

i'd agree with that, but i don't think the chimp was meant to represent obama. thank god we're back to disagreeing on the majority of the points, though.

OMG! Everything is about race with people. Its a freaking cartoon. Everyone looks way to much into things. Again ITS A FREAKING CARTOON. Im so SICK! of hearing a white guy shot a black guy HE MUST BE RACIST! Everything that happened back then happened a hundred years or so ago. The only thing I consider racist is BET, Black History month (because god forbid there was a White History Month) All black colleges (again, cause god forbid there was an all white college. Those are things i consider racist.

Will you marry me? haha. Seriously, its like the black caucus. They always deny membership to whites. Now, if there was a white caucus, the media would be all over them. Especialy if they denied entrance to a black person.

I get your point but racism is a little different,, a hotly debated issue as you can see. IMHO we as a society should set the standards and everybody should live with them.. I don't agree with the term "NIg***" I think it is racist when a white person says it and it is racist when a black person says it.. If the word is unacceptable then it is flat out unacceptable.. That should be the high standard we set for ourselves. I am equally offended at bush being called a chimp as I am with obama being called a chimp, in both instances it is an effort to demean another human being and if we truly want to put racism aside we won't quibble and differentiate between who has what rights to offend..
