Number of the day 88 million

Why are they dropping out of the job market completely? Do you think they are discouraged because they have been out of work for so long? or they are lazy?

Or a combination of the two?

A lot of Baby Boomers are reaching retirement age.

Just because a person reaches retirement age does not mean they retired. So try again.

As America's oldest baby boomers begin to ease into their 60s, most expect to delay retirement longer than their parents or grandparents.

That's good, because many can't afford to stop working anytime soon.

If Obama can get the participation rate down to 60% we will "Officially" have ZERO unemployment!!!

Of course there will still be millions out of work.....That's government accuracy and efficiency for ya!!

That's how many people in America who do not have a job nor are they looking for a job. But what's most interesting is thatthe labor force dropped to 63.7 percent last month, the lowest level since May 1983. According to SFGate.

88 million out of work and not looking for a job

since 83 you say?
So Obama is like Reagan?
Not even close. Maybe the Anti-Reagan....The Reagan years saw a very large increase in Labor force participation rate. 1980-1988

Umm and a sizable corresponding labor age population growth.

I am not sure what you are saying. Are you are attributing the growth of the participation rate under Reagan to an increase in the labor age population?

Kids coming out of school can't find a job, especially minorities, and the number of people unemployed for more than a year really suck. We got a real problem here, and the business climate that Obama has created coupled with a terrible energy plan does not bode well for the near future.
