now the NRA stabs our backs

liberals bureaucrats need to control and fix every human action and thought. fascism of good intention.

more treatment for the deranged, more psychiatric hospitals, more mandatory commitments for the insane. more asylums and more prisons . it's time to stop leftists from coddling criminals and put these dangerous folk away

Coddling? Are you fucking kidding me? The way we are set up now, most of these people don't end up getting the mental healthcare they need until they commit a crime and go to prison. That is NOT the way to do it. We shouldn't have to wait until these people commit a crime to get them help.

I think it's already been mentioned but we lock up more goddamn people than anyone else on the planet. It's not helping.

Actually many studies show a correlation between violent video games and a desensitization towards violence and killing, and many psychologists have found the same thing in their pracitces and research.

Then how is it the Japanese are playing the same violent video games (in fact, they produce most of them) and they only had 11 gun murders last year...

Oh, maybe it's because they can't get REAL guns!

Whoooooohooooo a statistics showdown! YAY!!!!

All firearms in Brazil are required to be registered with the state. The minimum age for ownership is 25 and it is generally illegal to carry a gun outside a residence.

The total number of firearms in Brazil is thought to be between 14 million and 17 million with 9 million of those being unregistered.

Some 39,000 people died in 2003 due to gun-related injuries nationwide.

In 2004, the number was 36,000.

Although Brazil has 100 million fewer citizens than the United States, and more restrictive gun laws, there are 25 percent more gun deaths

More than 50% of those guns being unregistered doesn't mean anything to you?

If that's the case then logically we should ban gun ownership by people who play violent video games.

did you see the comment from NRA president LaPierre?

a critical time in our history and the dumb ass makes a statement that violence in society is because of video games.
the left-wing is going to tear him up now.

the modern American public doesn't have the insight to over come this highly organized assault on rights.

It’s actually a case where LaPierre relates the truth of conservatism, however inadvertently – that its dogma is indeed authoritarian and at odds with Americans’ civil liberties, or at least inconsistent with regard to protecting Americans’ civil liberties.

This topic (not this thread) is so pathetic its mind numbingly stupid.

The perp is to blame. History has proven that banning shit has a negative effect.

As long as fools talk about video games the next perp is being groomed by his own brain and most seem oblivious.

Fools

And I agree with that. I will add, there are more factors that combine to send an undeveloped mind into dysfunction and one of those is the breakup of the family unit, and even though I am agnostic, I think that families who go to church together, often rear well adjusted children who become well adjusted adults.

Assault rifles really have no meaningful place in the family home or business in my opinion.

Now your catching on to what freedom is supposed to mean, better late than never.

Yes. In Freedomland, we can equate a call for banning assault weapons with a call for banning video games. Freedomland is a place without nuance or degree. A ban is a ban....no difference at all between them. None.

I love my weapons as much as any kid does their video games, what's the difference? They are both inanimate objects.
I've never harmed anyone, or let my guns fall into the hands of those who would. Who the fuck are you to determine what I "need"?

The arrogance of "why do you need this or that" is astounding.

Different culture... I don't think that Americans could be convinced to get into their fighter planes and crash them into the decks of ships or jump off a cliff to commit suicide with their kids...

Stop comparing us with them.
If you like them so Much, move there.

If I spoke Japanese, I'd consider it. The women over there are HOT! But since we are now in a position to fix THIS country's problems, caused by the unholy alliance of the wealthy and religious whacks, I'd rather stay here.

I think your citing of Kamakazis shows your misunderstanding of history. Those pilots were fighting to keep the Americans from taking Islands that would have brought bombers within striking distance. They were willing to exchange a few lives to save millions, and they knew it.

Now, I will admit that there are different cultures, but you guys claim that movies and videogames are the problem, yet the Japanese have movies and videogames that are even more violent than ours.

Yet they don't go on killing sprees.

Hardly comparable. Japan and the US are advanced industrial democracies... So they are comparable.

Brazil is a third world country with a questionable government.
