Now Media Can Tell Us The Truth About ObamaCare Costs

Red-States Wimping-OUT!!!

"Friday was a very important day for health policy days. It was the last day for states to tell the federal government whether they wanted any part in running the Affordable Care Act health exchanges come 2014.

The federal government did not get many takers. Some of the most closely watched states, including Florida and New Jersey, decided to leave the entire task to the federal government. All told, the federal government will run 26 of the state health exchanges. It also will partner with seven states, where state and federal officials take joint responsibility for the marketplace. Seventeen states and the District of Columbia will take on the task themselves. Here’s what that looks like in map form, via the Kaiser Family Foundation.

Remember, House Democrats originally wanted one national health exchange, where everyone in all 50 states could purchase coverage. That idea was nixed in the Senate bill, which aimed to give states a larger role in setting up the Affordable Care Act.

In a way, all these states turning over their exchanges to the federal government brings Obamacare a little closer to the more liberal House bill, which had the federal government running one big marketplace. It allows the White House to have more control over setting up its signature legislative accomplishment. It also creates some economies of scale, as HHS can develop one template exchange that all 26 states it handles will use."

My late H died from cancer 4 years ago. There was period of time in 2003-2004 when he did not have health insurance. If we had universal health care in place he would have been diagnosed with a problem that would have cost $30,000+/- to fix.

If we had "universal health care" in place, your husband would have been deemed a bad investment and instead the government would have provided you with end of life counseling (what a wonderful term, uh?). Kind of like using "pro-life" as the term for people who approve of killing babies.... you can always count on the idiot liberals to avoid using the actual term for their despicable acts and instead use a made up warm & fuzzy term like "end of life counseling" and "pro-choice" (after all, who doesn't love choice and counseling? Well, until that is, that you realize "choice" and "counseling" means your death or the death of a loved one).

As a result of our wonderful health care system and insurance companies thieves, he was not diagnosed until 2005.

As a result of your poor actions, he was not diagnosed. Don't blame others because you and your husband failed to put on your big girl and big boy pants and take responsibility for yourselves.

Who do you think pays for that? You do. No brainer question: Which scenario would you rather get stuck with? Do the math. DUH.

Uh, no stupid. In a "universal health care" system, I pay for it. I didn't pay one damn dime for Empire Blue Cross.

You can always count on liberals to play the helpless victims and then believe that government cares for them and loves them. It's mind-boggling stupidity. I mean, you're the same people who screamed and wailed uncontrollably that Bush and Cheney "lies us into war" and that they killed tens of thousands. Well, just wait until they are in charge of your health - you stupid fuck (then again, what do you care - you're only in it for freebies and handouts).

Well we taxpayers better get ready because once again we are gonna get hosed.

Obamacare ain't cheap and it looks like we are headed for single payer. Another not cheap method of HC.

Back on Planet Earth: Health care spending is transferred out of ICU.
Health care spending last year rose at one of the lowest rates in a half-century, partly the result of cost-saving measures put in place by the 2009 health care law, a USA TODAY analysis finds. [...]

"We're beginning a long period of adjustment in health care," says Dan Mendelson. CEO of Avalere Health, which advises health care companies and investors. "Institutions are taking both cost control and quality improvement more seriously."

He predicts modest cost growth is a long-term trend, not a short-term blip. "There's a lot more to squeeze without hurting quality," he says.

except every country that has Single Payer spends less per capita than we do.

They also have longer life expectencies and lower infant mortality rates.

You're so full of shit that it isn't even funny any more. We have the #1 healthcare system in the world. Canadians (single payer system) come here for life saving surgery because we're better and because there is no two year wait like there is in Canada.

Billionaire oil sheiks fly from all over the world to the Mayo Clinic and the Cleveland Clinic because it's the best healthcare in the world.

And it's about to be ruined by parasite assholes like you who want free shit at the expense of others. Lets just hope you're among the first deemed "not worth the expense" by the government Death Panels when the time comes. Wonder how much you'll love "free" government healthcare then. Communism always sounds great to morons - until they have to actually experience it.

It amazes me how easy it is to dupe you guys. The example used gave a reference of $20,000 as an example. It had nothing to do with how much the cheapest or most expensive policy will cost, but nut jobbers ran with it anyway.

It always amazes me how you idiot liberal dumbocrats A.) can't read, B.) are too lazy to read, and C.) refuse to accept reality in favor of your absurd ideology. I've tried to simplify the story for you since you are both stupid and lazy:

When the Obama White House and Congress passed The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (i.e. “Obamacare”), we clearly recall being told that the bill would save Americans money.

Yet, as CNSNews.com reports, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in a regulation issued Wednesday “assumed that under Obamacare the cheapest health insurance plan available in 2016 for a family will cost $20,000 for the year.”

Wait, what?

Yes, while explaining the penalty for not purchasing government insurance, the IRS calculates that the average annual cost for a family will be at about $20,000.

“The IRS’s assumption that the cheapest plan for a family will cost $20,000 per year is found in examples the IRS gives to help people understand how to calculate the penalty they will need to pay the government if they do not buy a mandated health plan,” CNSNews.com reports.

“The examples point to families of four and families of five, both of which the IRS expects in its assumptions to pay a minimum of $20,000 per year for a bronze plan,” the report adds.

Wait a minute. What is the exact language of the IRS regulation?

“The annual national average bronze plan premium for a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) is $20,000,” the regulation states.

Oh.

“Bronze will be the lowest tier health-insurance plan available under Obamacare — after Silver, Gold, and Platinum,” CNS explains. “Under the law, the penalty for not buying health insurance is supposed to be capped at either the annual average Bronze premium, 2.5 percent of taxable income, or $2,085.00 per family in 2016.”

This article couldn't possibly be any more clear - even for the idiot liberal dumbocrat.

Wait a minute. What is the exact language of the IRS regulation?

Since some folks apparently don't understand what an example to illustrate a calculation is, why not ask:
But more important, the regulations weren’t a “cost analysis” at all. A spokesperson for the Treasury Department confirmed to FactCheck.org in an email that the IRS wasn’t making any declarations or projections about what prices will be.

“[Twenty thousand dollars] is a round number used by IRS for a hypothetical example,” the official wrote. “It is not an estimate of premiums for a bronze plan for a family of five in 2016.”

Obviously.

Investors Business Daily put it succinctly:
The only problem is that the $20,000 figure was an example that has no basis in fact. The IRS always uses hypothetical numerical examples in its regulations to illustrate how the rules will work in practice and this was no different.

The reported $20,000 cost of a low-cost ObamaCare plan was a hypothetical, not an estimate or an assumption, as should have been evident from other clearly contradictory IRS examples.
In 2016, average premiums for a family of four buying a silver-level plan through ObamaCare's exchange are expected to be $15,400 — before subsidies. The lowest-cost bronze plan, which is far less comprehensive than typical employer policies, would cost about 85% of a silver plan, or $13,000.

We do not have the #1 system.

Americans go up to Canada to get their prescriptions filled because they can't get them filled here.

We have the lowest life expectency in the industrialized world and the highest infant mortality rate in the industrialized world. 62% of bankruptcies are linked to medical expenses. So the "Greatest system" means you die earlier and broker.

I don't want a health care system that is just great for rich assholes, I want one that is good for everyone.

History has shown that anything the Govt sticks its big fat nose in is never cheaper or better.

Guess we'll all see come 2014 when this POS bill is enacted.

You know.

The one the Dem idiots didn't read before they passed.

The one with twenty one tax increase in it.

The one the Reps weren't even consulted about. Kinda sorta funny how anyone can think this POS will be cheaper or better.

the crash of Obama-Care coming in 2014 will cost the Dem's another victory in 2014. Just can't wait for the media to focus on stories where dying americans can't find a doctor, and many who will die cause there aren't any or enough doctors in town to treat them! Maybe they all moved to Florida or Texas?

We have the #1 healthcare system in the world. And that is indisputable. We have the best and brightest doctors and nurses, the best technology, and the most cutting edge techniques.

As usual, you cite unrelated issues to back up your radical communist ideology.

Our life expectancy has nothing to do with our healthcare system and everything to do with our abundance of food, our lack of exercising, and our busy lifestyle's leading to large volumes of fast food. We are an obese nation thanks to our surplus of food (created by capitalism, stupid). That has nothing to do with our healthcare system.

Likewise, our infant mortality rate has to do with asshole liberals shooting up with heroin while pregnant, doing coke while pregnant, smoking while pregnant, being drunk 24x7 while pregnant, and having their partners beat the shit out of them while pregnant. What do you want the doctors to do when the babies are beaten to death in the womb before they even arrive at the hospital?

.

Well, that's not true.

Medicare is consistantly cheaper and more effective than private insurance. That's why private physicians are always whining about Medicare, it's not as lucrative as treating patients with private plans.

How is it "cheaper" simply because the government refuses to pay what the service costs? That's like me stealing Windows from Microsoft, pirating copies, and the claiming I've found a way to make Windows "cheaper". When you refuse to pay the full cost for an item, but the business has no recourse because you are the government, you haven't made anything cheaper - you've just used force to steal the product and/or service.

Furthermore, their refusal to pay has caused tons of physicians to refuse Medicare patients and only accept private insurance patients.

Yeah - great system Joe. This is what happens when the government gets involved... you can't even find a doctor to treat you. Just another form of he death panels I guess. The government has an endless array of tactics to get you off their books by ensuring your death.

Yup and thats why loads of doctors are not even accepting patients with Medicare. They get screwed by the Govt.

Just like we taxpayers are gonna get screwed with the ACA. There is no reform in this POS as regards to cost. We are gonna get hosed once again.
