Not "me v you"

Anywho, me v. you...

We seem to have some pretty fundamental issues at the heart of this debate. What constitutes fair.

Excellent post.

He will ignore or otherwise avoid a direct answer.

C'est la vie. Still an excellent post. I need guidelines. I never took debate, didn't go to college.

I'm here to learn.
Thanks for the idea. http://www.usmessageboard.com/clean-debate-zone/237298-what-is-debate-an-fyi.html Very basic stuff, but I'd say if you can do that, even with experienced debaters in a REAL debate, you'd give anyone a run for their money.

What constitutes fair on what issue/front, specifically.

How much debt is reasonable?

When does life begin?

What is a good return for the risk of investment?

Which is more fair, sales or income tax?

Is it fair to have someone live on unemployment for two years?

When does welfare move from charity to a way of life?

I hope you will go forth and start many threads, because you have too many good questions in one post to give full attention to. :)

It's not Republicans vs Democrats and Paulites vs everybody. This country is in Deep Serious because the government is broken, and there is no use casting blame.

All forms of media buy into casting the other side as 'the enemy,' and they use each of us as ammo against "the opposition."

Taking all of the above as fact - how can we change the status quo.

BDBoop--- you're looking for convienient political excuses for why the economy is shrinking and why the government is not responding. Long and short of it is -- A prez has very little control over the economy. He can encourage tax policy, he can suggest programs, he can twist the arm of the Fed Reserve and he can encourage trade policies.

What he/she can contribute MOST is vision and leadership. And nowhere in the national debate right now is WHAT the business of AMERICA SHOULD be. We are contracting economically because we never directly addressed Globalism. The earth got a lot smaller while we were fighting over Bill Clinton's impeachment and investing heavily in failed "internet superhiway startups". There is no fencing high enough to fix that.

We desparately need to build a world class technical capability where capital can flow to NEW aggressive companies that will REQUIRE American high skilled labor. All levels of jobs flow from that.

We desparately need a 21st century education system where we ENCOURAGE high performing students by EXPANDING virtual education and advanced course material while ending the racist garbage of low expectations.

We desparately need to encourage 21st Century manufacturing technology and sell it to the rest of the world. Need to recapture the lead in artifical intelligience, robotics, material science, bioscience, and logistics.

NONE of this is a political problem except for the barriers that are in the way of folks IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR who can fix all these things. That giant "sucking sound" that Perot talked about has been going on for years now. And while we continue to argue about REPs and DEMs, our kids are looking at a special kind of socialist redistribution where OUR quality of life is redistributed to the rest of the world.

Where in this election cycle are you hearing any politician lay it out that way? Where are the media stories about the drought in New tech IPOs of any quality? Where is the outrage over kids whose lives are being compromised by a dysfunctional public school system?

We're distracted, flabby, and politics has turned this nation into a nursery full of beggars and whiners. Especially corporations who would rather PRETEND they're green and be hand fed -- then do REAL work and go hunt their own food.

Please don't tell me what I'm looking for.

I was wondering why your post sounded so familiar and then I realized - that's what Obama said when he wrote the AJA bill.

The country is not broken at all. Its government is and has been.

And if your thesis is that Dims and Republicans share the blame for that, you are finally speaking coherently, rationally and correctly.

But the majority part of the blame DOES go to those (mostly modern day liberal Americans) who decline to place stock in the Constitutional LIMITS imposed on the federal government. They deride the very notion.

Even as I mention it again, the usual suspects are quivering in rage and frustration that they can't shout me down with the standard refrain: "but the GOP does it too." That's true. But it's not an answer.

The Tea Party is trying to reform the GOP (and our government). By contrast, liberal Democratics are more than content to continue with business as usual.

Not a chance. the nation has been going to hell because of hard right wing policies ripping up the constitution to reign in their corporatist fascism.

Today's GOP does not have a care in he world about anything but the rich and their corporate cronies. The constitution and lady liberty are nothing but garbage to them.

Looks like a lot of name calling, which I assumed was not allowed in this section. Excellent opportunity for the mods to show us what this section is all about.

Um, who is being insulted??

I disagree. He wasn't saying or doing anything offensive towards any poster. He has an opinion, which a lot don't like.

And if that is the standard that has been set (above) then half the members will be locked out in a week...

Is his keyboard broken, and he can't take this up with the admins? I was going to suggest you take it up with the admins, but that's rather ridiculous, since we are all adults.
