One thing that is not being talked about is Many Doctor's are dropping Medicare patients because they can't afford the low payments being made.
The New Health Care Bill will pay even less than is already being paid to them right now.
Where do you think Medicare patients are going to go? The emergency room's that's where.
So we will have 30 million that will be insured so that costs will go down because they won't be going to the emergency rooms. Not so.
Now we will have around 76 million or so baby boomer's who will be going to the emergency room's because they won't have doctors.
You think your premium's are high now, with 30 million going to emergency room's, think how sky high it will go with 70 million or more in the next 10 yrs or so.
Unsustainable that's what.

My family Doctor is also a good friend, He tells me that he is going to have to see about 20% fewer patients because of the new laws. He has already stopped accepting all new patients, and he says he may just say to hell with it and retire early. I hope not, I doubt we will find another Primary care provider, or at least not one near as good.

Same here for us. Our family Doctor is no longer accepting new patients with medicare.

Let's not forget the new 80 percent rule and all of the new taxes in the Affordable Health Care bill.

Yep, that's what's really wrong with this bill, it's about government control and it doesn't address the high cost of of our premiums plus the tax increases.

Do you notice how the left are not talking about this? Not one has come into this thread to dispute the topic.

Let me see, a doctor spends 10 years getting a degree and he is going to quit the profession?

A doctor is going to turn down medicare patients which are his bread & butter for survival?

And yes, capitalism mandates that until there is a demand, no hospitals will be built. Unfortunately, when there is a demand for medical care it will be too late.

Medicaid patients are not Dr.'s bread and butter. What part of they are not getting paid for their services are you not getting? Getting paid for full services are their bread & butter.
And Dr.'s are retiring earlier than when they wanted to. They are not quiting the profession they are retiring early.

Medicare is gonna ruin everything. It's gonna take me 16 hours to get a prescription for my boner meds just because some yahoo in front of me has a busted leg or something. Where's the logic? I got cash in hand and I want to pay for a service. This is the socialist's agenda and America is getting taken once again.

Medicare will be our demise. It will worsen the state of healthcare for ALL in this great country.

This is America, or so I thought.

I worked for a doctor at one time. Even then, about 6 years ago, he wasn't taking any patients on Medicaid and was thinking of dropping Medicare as well.

He had nothing good to say about the Govts in involvement HC.

Does being an idiot come naturally, or do you have to work at it?

Let's step back in time one month:

The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission's (MedPAC) annual survey of access to physician services found that 83 percent of Medicare patients seeking care for illness or injury reported "never" having to wait longer than desired to see a doctor, compared to 80 percent for privately insured Americans between the ages of 50 and 64. Similarly, of the Medicare patients seeking a new primary care physician in 2010, 79 percent reported no problem in finding a physician compared to 69 percent for privately insured patients.

The New Health Care Bill will pay even less than is already being paid to them right now.

If you're talking about slowing the growth in Medicare market basket updates, that applies to things like inpatient hospitals, home health providers, nursing homes, hospice providers, inpatient psychiatric facilities, long-term care hospitals and inpatient rehabilitation facilities. It doesn't affect the physician fee schedule that pays the primary care doctors you're talking about.

Well my Family Dr. is not accepting new patients that have medicare. And so are many friends of mine.
And they must accept the payments made to them.
Example office visit 25.00 paid by medicare 15.00 lose of 10.00 for each patient.
They are finding it very hard to find a family practice Dr. who will take Medicare.

The same is happening here in NV. The only doctor accepting new patients at all is a concierge Dr.

Yes and many Family practice Doctors are going into a specialty type of medicine because they can't make as a family practitioner.
It's really hard to find a family Dr.now a day's isn't it.
