The fact is women were drawn to Christianity because of how it elevated women.

Is the West's record perfect on treatment of women? OF COURSE NOT! No one is arguing it is.

But you have to go back hundreds of years to find examples (in the West) that compare to how women are treated TODAY in countries outside of the Christian influence of the West.

That's why multiculturalism is a joke. Not all cultures are good. Not all cultures are equal, and they shouldn't be treated as such.

Christianity does NOT mean that we are better - there are plenty of examples of what Christians follow in the Bible that makes many people unequal or "less worthy." Should we talk about homosexuals, for example? Religion might play a part in why cultures are different, but it not everything. To understand what makes a culture different, you have to look beyond the religion and actually study the culture and the people itself. Jumping to religion is an easy answer and a cop-out.

As to the linked article, that a given culture engages in a practice we consider inappropriate, it does not mitigate our responsibility to adhere to our own principles. India has been struggling for decades in good faith to address the issue of abuse of its female citizens, and harmful practices against girls are illegal and are in no way sanctioned by the government.

And when you state: ‘Not all cultures are equal, and they shouldn't be treated as such,’ what are advocating? That we break off diplomatic relations with India? Attack India? Violate the civil rights of American citizens and resident aliens from South Asia?
