CDZ North Korea Meeting - How Big of a Deal

I would trust NK as far as I could throw the whole country. Having said that, it's better than not talking to them.

Trump has mostly kept his campaign promises

Trump has mostly kept his campaign promises
As the sources I quoted said, Trump has more promises broken than kept. Your site only mentions a few kept promises, but none of the broken ones.

As far as the OP, there is nothing substantial in the meeting with Kim. Most commentators say that technical details will come later, so it's too early to rejoice.

Just one other thing though it is not really worthy of comment...........every politician in the entire history of the earth has made promises he failed to keep...so what is the point???? Should I go over all the promises Obama failed to keep....the jerk accomplished less than any President in modern history.....his only legacy is and will be that he was the first affirmative action President. Get real dude.

Of course everyone knows politicians don't keep every promise. You tried to claim Trump has mostly kept his promises, but failed and then you deflect to Obama.

So if you have to deflect to Obama, remember McConnell said, "The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president." Obama's last 6 years were met with extreme opposition to the very end of his term. Do you really think congress and fox news would have supported Obama then like they are supporting Trump now in meeting with N. Korea?

The n. korean nuclear test site collapse may or may not have played a role in Kim's decision to agree to meet with Trump....no way you can prove it did and there is no way I can prove it did not. It has been recognized for quite awhile by the most astute analysts that N. Korea would not agree to meet with the U.S.A until they achieved Nuclear Capability....thus I would concur and say that their achievement of a Nuclear Capability and the means to deliver nuke warheads to America contributed more to Kim's willingness to meet with Trump...gives him much more bargaining power. China may also have played a role....which cannot be really understood...some say they were against the meeting and some say for it...I tend to believe they agreed to it. But all of this is conjecture....bottom line both Kim and Trump should be praised for this meeting and Kim's true motivation is not all that significant...suffice to say he has changed his hardline stance for whatever reasons and the world should be happy about that....most particuarly America.

Then you say...................

"Far as the ridicule the treaty with Iran vs the meeting with North Korea thing, nope, I meant it. Hypocrisy check time"

You must be coinfused to say the least. Trump supporters are the ones who were the main critics of the horrible deal with Iran made by Obam....how you can surmise that Trump Supporters would also be critical of the Korean summit between Trump and Kim is beyond me...perhaps you can expound on that?

Regarding hypocrisy....you seem to have got that backwards also..........the real hypocrites in regards to the summit in Korea are the democratic leaders in congress who praised the aboslutely disaster of a deal with Iran but dissed the meeting Trump had with Kim...do you not understand that?

What would make the Iran deal a bad deal and the Korean summit a good thing?

To me they are fairly similar. Keep in mind I would have generally done both but also with both we're throwing bones to bad guys in a toothless attempt to win some moderation out of the monsters IMO.

Now you finally admit you are coinfused. Do some research...it is easily available....I am not going to waste my time doing your homework for you. Plus read the link i just posted above regarding the Israeli intelligence coup regarding the Iranians.

But to get back to the ongoing negotiations with the N. Koreans ...you want to declare it a mistake, a loss and or a failure even though the process has just begun. Buck up buckaroo and try and get a little more optimistic. Of course the whole shebang could get shut down and the liberals are doing everything in their power to sabotage it. Too bad Trump is not the dictator some think he is......you could all look forward to the sunrise whilst standing in front of a concrete wall with a blindfold on. Pardon my colorful allegory. Perhaps too gory for this forum.

Wait, I didn't say the deal with the North Koreans was a mistake. Heck, I said I'd of met with him if it were my decision.

I don't get it, are you trying to make people disagree with Trump?

Maybe because I said I'd of done the Iranian deal also? (now don't get me wrong, I'll nit pick everything from how social security to welfare to affirmative action to how SR-71's were made lol but I'd of done it)

Well, this has been one of the better discussions on here....too bad more did not participate.

I think we have just about beat this to death so I will probably wait until Trump and Kim and Trump meet again before I make any more comments.

Until then all we can do is hope the liberals are not successful in derailing this historic turn of events and that Trump will prevail in his efforts to de-nucleararize the Korean peninsula.

Why would liberals want to derail this. Even Bill Clinton said that liberals should look at this as a good thing.

Well, I haven't heard that report on Bill but if he said it .....he is correct...they should but they are not. Why not? simply because they Hate Trump so much they do not want to see him succeed at anything...it really is that simple. They had rather see America under the threat of N. Korean nuclear missles than for Trump getting the credit for stopping that. That speaks volumes about the democrats...........perhaps the biggest mistake the democrats have ever made....they will not be able to ever correct such a huge mistake. It will alway be there...especially at election time. But again....socialists take heart....the democrats have given you a huge opening.

Bill said it on a talk show.
You are right. There is a deep hatred between liberals and conservatives - both directions. I have been around a long time and I have never seen such abject animosity between parties. I have been able to talk to lots of conservatives, and in person we can get along. But in the anonymity of a forum or a crowd you see the hatred flaring strongly. It seems like it will get worse as time goes on.

There is this sports like atmosphere to politics now where whatever your guy does is good and whatever the other guy does is bad. It may be caused by the marketing of the two parties, er teams.

What I am seeing is voters flip between conservative and liberal on issues but generally fall in line with their team's commands.

Same thing with current events. Obama makes a tariff its great, Trump its terrible or tou get the other view. Its comical.

That's an interesting thought. It seems that people still have a strong protect-our-clan instinct. It is fortunate that most people can get gratification of their inter-clan fighting instinct by harmlessly watching a sports game on TV.

However in the politics of the Un-united States of America the red state blue state teams are at each others throats in a battle with a much more serious outcome.

The Mad Midget does what the Chinese tell him to, period. Pretending that little thug is operating as an independent 'leader' is just comical theatre; it's like talking to a ventriloquist's dummy as if it were alive or something. His word means nothing, he isn't the boss.

The collapsing mountain' thing sounds interesting, though. I doubt that motivates a little psychopath to do much, in any case. The Chinese trade with terrorist vermin through this little gimp, so the embargo should not only stay, it should be escalated, no matter what the Chinese have their pet midget say. Drive the scum to total collapse.
