Nonunion Ala. crews turned away from Sandy recovery

It was on our local news. Unions up in New Jersey are turning away help because the people are NON union. WTF.. Why people are suffering and all they care about if the people are union or not .. Typical union thugs I guess

It has always rubbed me the wrong way that anytime I go to buy a car, or refinance a mortgage etc etc, one of the questions that is asked is if I'm part of a union so I can get a discount. These people have no interest in equality, all they want is for the rest of us to serve them.

I've been seeing this all over the net

Yea, all the usual right wing echo chamber suspects...Breitbart, Malkin, the blaze who will take a lie and metastasize it. It is a cancer on our society.

Hey Steph, is your boyfriend a 'French model'???:lol::lol:

lolololololol!!!

Someone else post a link, and the person who said it was one person. Why would he lie. I mean what is it in it for him. He doesnt live there. He drove all the way up from AL . He has no reason to lie .

Let's try something a little different for you right wingers...THINK. I know it is foreign to you, but how would repair of power utilities be coordinated?

Would they stop at a gas station and ask: 'Where does Clem and I find downed high voltage wires'?

Or would they drive around looking for a 'crew' and ask: 'Where does Clem and I find downed high voltage wires'?

The hurricane-ravaged east coast has been receiving north Alabama help, but crews from Huntsville Utilities learned they'll be doing work in Long Island, New York instead of in New Jersey.
Crews from Huntsville, as well as Decatur Utilities and Joe Wheeler out of Trinity headed up there this week, but Derrick Moore, one of the Decatur workers, said they were told by crews in New Jersey that they can't do any work there since they're not union employees.

Typical unions. They want the job even though it could get done better and faster by non-union people. They always put themselves first and could care less how many people are in need of help. They can all wait till union people get around to helping.

Interesting that this comes from the first paragraph of your link................

So..............instead of getting the glory jobs they were hoping for by being in New Jersey, they're pissed that they have to work on Long Island instead?

I guess that they want to go where they'll be noticed, not where they are needed.

I guess being told they couldn't help cause they weren't union means nothing to you.

Unions putting themselves ahead of starving hurricane victims without power... Priceless.

Well...I suppose people have the right to choose who they take help from. Right?

Here's another link.

Imagine that, power company crews being turned away because they aren't union. It's a far cry from Clem and friends isn't it?

Huntsville Utilities said they were not turned away and are up in storm ravaged areas working.

from the link...kinda makes the whole thread false

In New Jersey???

The story is very fishy.

First off Christie does not like Unions.

Second off..this is emergency work..and the government is directing it..not private companies.

The story doesn't hold up..at all.

By the utility companies. As they have done with other out of state crews.

I live in NJ and unions have screwed this state. I am a little sceptical of this story but we have yet to hear anyone refute it.

The government isn't directing crap. Maybe the government will direct the New York Marathon.

There is no substance to this story...it is a 'some guy said' story

Now that's what I call "credibility"!

I read the story, it is a 'some guy said' story.

Read it yourself...

Thanks for showing that the OP is, as usual, full of shit.

Christie may not like unions but he is not a dictactor.
The utility companies are the ones doing the coordinating and work not the government, so you are twice wrong.
And as I said, no one has refuted the story yet.

Not enough info to say either way actually. Some crews are saying they were turned away and others said they weren't. But it doesn't say who are union or not.
