None dare call it socialism

Hotair.com? Really? I've never heard of it, but somehow I think maybe it's full of hot air. Better link?

The Department of Health and Human Services notified Forest Laboratories that it plans to blacklist CEO Howard Solomon from doing any business with the federal government, a status that would effectively lock out Forest from any government contracting:

GOOD!

Not the public execution of the CEO, I might propose for lying to the public, but t'will do, I suppose.

Then what do you call it when the administration thinks it can appoint and dismiss CEOs at its will?

Socialism? WTF??

Sure sounds like a very sound free market approach. The consumer always has the right to take their business elsewhere. In this case, the consumer is the government, whose job it is to spend our tax dollars wisely and responsibly.

Dare I say I will have to side with bggrn on this one? I haven't seen a link that says the gov. is actually trying to oust him. They just won't do business with him, which they have a right to do.

If it were the DNC or Obama's campaign organization at work, I'd also see this as a free use of boycotting or markets as you will.

In this case though, they bring the power of the government through all aspects, down on a CEO that hasn't been found guilty of anything.

Now it may stand, but expect the same game playing down the line. They we'll hear, "Two wrongs don't make a right."

Noter how this lover of freedom, Rab, doesn't want to grant the government freedom to elect whyich corporations they'll puchase from?

Right wing cranks tend to have a very limited definition of freedom.

Basically they mean they love FREEDOM OF CORPORATIONS to do whatever the fuck they want.

Well, not surpring that.

That is, after all, fairly typical thinking of FASCISTS.

Hey dumbshit, what does the CEO have to do with whether the gov't is getting the best price on its purchase? They either are or they aren't. But refusing to buy the lowest priced good because you don't like the CEO is wasting money and inefficient. Not that you care of course.

Hey Monica, you are defending this?

Fraud

In September 2010, Forest Laboratories, Inc. and Forest Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (a subsidiary of Forest Laboratories) agreed to pay more than $313 million to resolve allegations of civil and criminal liability relating to obstruction of justice, the distribution of an unapproved new drug, Levothroid, and the illegal promotion of Celexa for use in treating children and adolescents.

Celexa and Lexapro

Forest Laboratories has illegally promoted the drugs Celexa and Lexapro for unapproved pediatric uses in treating depression.

Levothroid distribution

Forest Laboratories has distributed Levothroid in violation of the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FDCA). wiki

Rabbi, you're digging yourself a bit of a hole here. Not doing business with him because they don't like or the have something against what he does is still a free market principle. In fact it's how every consumer should operate. Maybe company x does sell a product dirt cheap. Cheaper than company y anyway. But x uses child labor and tortures them or whatever heinous scenario you can think of. So the consumer has to make a decision would they rather spend less money and turn a blind eye to said attrocities committed by x, in fact rewarding it by continuing to purchase their product, or do they purchase the same thing from y for a little more because they don't commit such attrocities?

The sad truth is most people just keep buying cheap. That's why I get so pissed off about the whining about evil corporate America. To the corporation and capitalism bashing libs; The free market and capitalism do work to keep corporations from miss cutting corners, being irresponsible to the environment, and genarally just misbhaving..............IF the consuming public holds their end of the deal by not supporting their products. In reality if there is anyone to blame for the evils of corporate America, it is YOU the consuming public becaue ultimately it is the conumers that let them get away with it. If they want corporations to not do things they don't like then the consuming public needs to stop buyng their product. It's that simple. And that's what government is doing in this case.

???

I dare all the time.

I routinely address the fascist democratic party as the "fascist democratic party;" based on the merger of corporate and federal power structures under Obama, Where well connected looters such as Goldman Sachs, Chase, the UAW, Blue Cross and Kaiser are adjuncts to the government just as the government is an agent for their benefit.

I address Jillian and Maggie Mae as "communists," because in truth that is what they promote.

But then, I'm the shy and reserved type...

CEO's suck.

Yeah/ Things run much better with no one in charge, right?

Lot's of people believe that employees do all the work and managers just sit and get rich. In fact 150 years ago Marx said in Das Kapital that in his world factory owners would all be replaced by clerks.

Bad idea.

Aside from whether CEO's are useful or not, CEO's are people. I'm a CEO and for the life of me I can't see anything I've personally done to anyone here to inspire hatred. My take is it's one of those things where people hate others for because of something like the religion, skin color, job title, whatever.

Do you recognize that the US government is not a private individual? Do you want contracts going to one company because their CEO is a black Marxist homosexual while the lower bidder's is an Asian?

Peasants for PLUTOCRCY.

HA!

Perfect.

And, just in case some of you don't know...historically quite common, too
