There is no reason to be sorry. My great grandmother on my mother's side was a Creek Indian (Muscogee from Alabama). My grandmother and aunts on my mother's side all look like Native Indians, but my mother took after my white grandfather. I am rather proud of my Native American Heritage, thank you very much. :0)

Did you read the article William?

It doesn't say that most people don't have Native American blood in their veins, it says to take stories of a "Cherokee Princess" with a grain of salt, because of how it translates. The article admonishes folks with a story of a Cherokee Princess in their bloodlines to not be surprised to find out that their ancestor was in fact from another tribe and most likely NOT native royalty.

Apparently this is not a 'black and white' issue as your opening "Sorry" misleads.

In Conclusion:
While the "Cherokee Indian Princess" story is almost guaranteed to be a myth, there is a chance that this cliche stems from some type of Native American ancestry. Treat this as you would any other genealogy search, and thoroughly research those ancestors in all available records.
