Indeed there are no magic solutions

but plenty of common sense solutions

enable all production of domestic oil, gas, shale and coal reserves for u.s. Consumption, and the resumption of nuclear development for starters

incentives and tax breaks should be credited

for the past thirty years certain clueless bureaucrats cant seem to recognize the obvious

Crap! We are exporting gasoline. So all of your 'solutions' would just allow the energy corperations to export even more gasoline, without bringing down the price of gasoline one cent.

I clearly indicated the production should be for domestic consumption

let the french depend on iran and iraq

No you did not. You stated domestic production, not domestic consumption. And just how are you going to pass legislation telling the energy corperations that they cannot export petroleum products?

And why should we give them tax breaks when they are making billions every quarter?

What we need is an energy policy that encourages vehicles, homes, and businesses that use less energy for the same results. Rather than giving the billionaires even more billions, we need to be investing in R and D on energy generation and storage. Whether cold fusion, cheap and high efficiency solar panels, or truly failsafe nuclear plants, the R and D should be a priority. High capacity batteries, at a reasonable cost, would make the electric car a reality, and high efficiency solar would allow the homeowner to provide power for his home and vehicle.

The things you are suggesting would be like the govenment funding horse breeders to provide faster horses in 1910 for better transportation for the masses.

As long as Christians are banned from medical treatments that use evolutionary theory as their basis of biology.

And fundamentalists couldn't use anything which is over 6000 years old, which I'm afraid includes petroleum...sorry!. No plastics either.

You guys REALLY thought out this line of reasoning well, didn't you?

When we actually have high capacity batteries, effecient solar energy, and barley power let us all know

weve been waiting for thirty plus years for these cost effecient miracles of physics

until that magical day we neednt depend on the saudis

we will leave the walking, bicycling and "high speed" rails up to the regressives

We already have that. Obama's Secretary of Energy has said that we need to figure out a way to make US gas prices the same as our friends in Europe have to pay. He and Obama WANT the gas prices to rise. Obama has decreased production of oil on federal land.
Oh yeah! Let's give more stimulus money to green energy companies (that just happen to be run by our campaign donors and are on the way to bankruptcy already....let's give them billions to make off with!

You Obama worshiping idiots should pay attention. Your boy is deliberately screwing this country to make us more like his socialist friends.

Liberalism is a mental disorder!

I fixed your post for you...

Rail can move a ton a freight 500 miles on a gallon of fuel.
Go ahead and display your willful ignorance some more.

I wonder if the horse and buggy types were this vociferous in their opposition to the horseless carriage?

I clearly indicated the production should be for domestic consumption

No you didn't. As it was pointed out. But I want to ask again the question that was asked before;

Who would you have dictate to the oil companies that the domestic drilled oil was ONLY for domestic consumption?

enable all production of domestic oil, gas, shale and coal reserves for u.s. Consumption

clearly our public schools have allowed some wide eyed wonders to fall through the cracks...reading can be such a challenge sometimes

So you want even more Big Oil subsidies to prevent alternatives from competing. :cuckoo: You sound like a Big Oil Shill. :cuckoo:

ok asshole. We got that part. What you can't figure out the answer to is the part about who is going to make sure that American oil is for American consumption?
And if your "logic" is that American oil will be turned into gas and sold here in America for less money per gallon, that leads to two questions; why would an oil company want to sell for less and once again, who is going to make sure that American oil is sold in America. For less money than available elsewhere.

Try again. Or not. You don't and won't say the obvious answer. And the only answer.

Why are we exporting millions of tons of grains while paying record prices for groceries?

Oil prices will fall soon enough, and you'll have your cheap gasoline once again.
And regardless of the price of gasoline, the government will go on skimming their 45 cents/gallon off the top.

Yep. After the election and during the revived recession.

Its time we nationalized our energy sector including price caps, rationing, and subsidies for the poor...............for the "public good"

because bureaucratically effecient , centally planned monopolies work so well lol

Congress just did away with the tax cut at the pump & reduced gasolines competition on January 1, 2012. That is the reason gas prices stopped falling, suddenly spiked & have been rising every since. Enjoy! Congress hates the poor!!!
