"No Labels" website

Sorry, Maggie. This isn't about 'no labels', this is more left wing propaganda. I see no one but progressives included in their 'contributors' list..... blogger from the HuffPuff? That's laughable. It has a credibility issue for me.

However, I'll watch the site.... and read it more thoroughly.

Nice find though. Whether I agree with it or not, it's a good one to bring to the board.

There's a creepy "that which must not be named" aspect to it as well.

Why are they afraid to identify what they are?

 There are 8 pages of brief resumes of 75 people. They're not hiding anything. If you want further information, use your Google button.

Look them up. All but two of them on the front page have bona fide Democrat credentials.

The OP was too fucking lazy or ignorant to look beyond the "no labels" claim.

here is my analogy of the group

They are a brand new nicely dressed brand new window placed on the same old run down house.

Oh well, I should have known it was beyond the comprehension of some of the rabid righties (yeah, that's a label) to understand the intent. I had briefly forgotten that to some of you, even a whiff of agreement on any issue not waaaaaay far to the right of the spectrum would "label" such persons as being lefties.

In light of the blame game over the tragic shooting of Congresswoman Giffords, I really thought people from both the left and the right would be amenable to ending the silly, unproductive vitriol. But nooooooooo...

So nevermind. I'm outta here. Carry on.

All you've shown is that you are a thoroughly brainwashed and compliant consumer of leftwing pablum.

My experience is that those who bristle about "labels" are most often those being identified for who they are...And those are most often leftists.

At the risk of sounding Peloskiesque - are you serious?

Do you actually believe that all of an individual's experience is linkable on the internets?

LOL, of course it's a joke. Why do you think I bolded the part where he said "My experience"? Relax people.

You must understand when people call for a specific kind of speech that becomes very political.

What should they have called it then, in an attempt to stop the partisan ugliness? The site doesn't claim to be non-political.

All these people are trying to do is get people to actually focus ON THE ISSUES in a civil manner rather than having to add the extremely vile commentary on issues that have become commonplace.

I actually can not say I hear "vile commentary" on either side.

I look at this "do not go negative" rhetoric as an attempt for candidates to hide who they are and what they have done. What if what one has done is vile, how would you articulate a vile action without using any word or speech that was not vile.

Maybe these are all good people but they are naive at best. Its to easy to attack anyone who states we must control free speech, that is how they will be described, no way around it.

Either way, they are way off on energy which shows me they have not done their homework and will not be good for the country.

I see energy as important as tax or any other issue related to the economy.

You want a strong USA, cheap energy and no tax is the only way.

The night before she and 19 others were shot at an event in Tucson, Arizona, Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) wrote a warm email to Kentucky Secretary of State Trey Grayson, where she told the Republican "we need to figure out how to tone our rhetoric and partisanship down."

Giffords remains in the hospital in critical condition after being shot in the head Saturday.

According to cn|2 Politics, which obtained the email, Giffords sent the message to congratulate Grayson for his recent appointment as director of Harvard University's Institute of Politics.

"After you get settled, I would love to talk about what we can do to promote centrism and moderation," Giffords wrote. "I am one of only 12 Dems left in a GOP district (the only woman) and think that we need to figure out how to tone our rhetoric and partisanship down."

Glenn Beck's challenge (aired yesterday):

I challenge all Americans, left or right, regardless if you’re a politician, pundit, painter, priest, parishioner, poet or porn star to agree with all of the following.

I denounce violence, regardless of ideological motivation.

I denounce anyone, from the Left, the Right or middle, who believes physical violence is the answer to whatever they feel is wrong with our country.

I denounce those who wish to tear down our system and rebuild it in their own image, whatever that image may be.

I denounce those from the Left, the Right or middle, who call for riots and violence as an opportunity to bring down and reconstruct our system.

I denounce violent threats and calls for the destruction of our system – regardless of their underlying ideology – whether they come from the Hutaree Militia or Frances Fox Piven.

I hold those responsible for the violence, responsible for the violence. I denounce those who attempt to blame political opponents for the acts of madmen.

I denounce those from the Left, the Right or middle that sees violence as a viable alternative to our long established system of change made within the constraints of our constitutional Republic.

I will stand with anyone willing to sign that pledge. Today I make a personal choice. I urge leaders of both sides and all walks of life to join me as all Americans joined hands on 9.12.2001.

I believe that we must change ourselves to hold on to our republic. That’s why I have been talking about e4. Enlightenment. Education. Empowerment. Entrepreneurship. It’s a personal solution for all of us to become the people we were born to be, not the people we’ve allowed ourselves to become. I have called for a personal revolution; change ourselves in order to change the world. Those who live with honor and are responsible to themselves and their families will be the key to the future of our Republic, not those playing political games

Maggie, most are incapable of seperating hate and fear mongering from politics.
One reason is it makes millions for much of the MSM. So they will of course be against toning down any hate and fear mongering.

both party's fear anything like a no labels concept and will fight it.

There are "labels" and then there are insults. Big difference. Maybe the site should have called itself "No Insulting Labels." Frankly, I don't imagine the insults will stop with people, either. But I do believe we should hold our lawmakers (and wannabes) up to civility because much of what they say trickles down to the populace.

For all the critics of this post, however, I've since found that site to be more trouble than it's worth to navigate. Their community forum is done by video, to which people respond. Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer the written word. Eliminating all the NOISE is frankly much more satisfying.
