No African-American senators likely in near future – In America - CNN.com Blogs

On Tuesday, C. Anthony Muse, thought to be the strongest black candidate for U.S. Senate this year, lost his Democratic primary race in Maryland, coming in a distant second to Sen. Ben Cardin, the incumbent. CNN found only one other African-American on a Senate ballot, a Florida candidate who isn’t getting much attention among a wide field of contenders.

Out of 100 U.S. senators, two are Latino, two are of Asian or Pacific Islander ancestry, but none are African-American. Tuesday's primary losses mean a Senate body with relatively little racial or ethnic diversity will likely continue to have no black members for two more years.

Skin Color really isn't the Senate's problem. Integrity, values, and actually doing stuff thats useful is.

1. Noboby prevents blacks from being candidates for Senate seats. But it's the election that counts and the voters are still free to vote for whom they want.

2. The Senate is not meant to be a reflection of the population of the US.

Who do you blame for this- voters, politicians, lack of candidates of certain colors?

I was hoping to have another African American presidential candidate and was so dismayed at the vicious attacks the left launched on Cain.

Not sure. I think there are ton of Hispanics, Blacks and Asians that would make excellent candidates from the business sector. However, one they get success in the business sector they tend to become conservative (aka Republicans). When an prominent minority runs for office as a conservative they media, liberal leaders of the black or hispanic community and white liberals ripe them to shreds and never get their message out!
