Obviously neither one of these people thought to check his online activity.

PARKLAND, Fla._Nikolas Cruz was immature, quirky and depressed when James and Kimberly Snead took him into their Parkland home. But he was pleasant and seemed to be growing happier, they said.

How the 19-year-old turned into a killer still baffles them.

"We had this monster living under our roof and we didn't know," Kimberly Snead told the South Florida Sun Sentinel in an exclusive interview Saturday. "We didn't see this side of him."

"Everything everybody seems to know, we didn't know," James Snead said. "It's as simple as that."

The stand-in parents almost have to claim they didn't know, so that they won't take any blame. They knew.

All of these white boy mass shooters parents offer that they had no idea
Here's the problem folks-be observant hands on parents and you will "have an idea"

The Snead's were not his parents, and since he was already grown up when they took him in they probably were not very "hands on".
It's unfortunate though that they didn't look a lot closer into what he was up to.

didn't he also get kicked out of school? or was that before they took him in?

With his past history, threats made and owning not just guns but assault rifles...you'd think they would have been a little concerned about taking him in. It was really nice of them to do, but not so naiively.

that's a huge red flag

Family Who Housed Florida School Shooter Describes the Days Before the Attack

The days before Nikolas Cruz allegedly opened fire in a high school in Parkland, Fla., were normal, said James Snead, the man who was housing the 19-year-old.

Two weeks earlier, “he told me this is the best he’s ever felt in his life,” Mr. Snead, 48, said.

Mr. Cruz had lived with the Snead family for only a few months. Mr. Snead and his wife had invited Mr. Cruz, a friend of their son, to move in after his mother died in November.

Mr. Snead, a gun owner, said he required Mr. Cruz to follow house rules. He told Mr. Cruz that he would need his own gun safe for his firearms in order to live with the Sneads. Mr. Cruz owned “five or six guns,” as well as pellet guns, and they were all bought legally, Mr. Snead said.

“He followed [the rules] to the T,” Mr. Snead said. Mr. Snead had what he thought was the only key to the safe, he said. After Wednesday’s shootings, he realized Mr. Cruz had an extra key.

“He definitely had a key to the gun safe I didn’t know about,” Mr. Snead said.

A Broward County sheriff spokeswoman said the investigation is ongoing and declined to comment further. The public defender’s office, which is representing Mr. Cruz, didn’t respond to a request for comment.

...if anyone reads about serial killers--they act normal/ok/etc
...someone said it in another thread Ted Bundy was a great person/citizen/student/etc on the outside .....
...the BTK killer described his killings in a tone as if he was describing going on a boring picnic

What liars. Like the idiot Columbine parents said "they didn't know" yet they knew their sons were stockpiling guns and pipe bombs in their bedrooms. And like the Columbine massacre, this kid had so much attention from the police & FBI from all the warning signs and all of these incompetent adults involved did exactly NOTHING! They should be held legally as liable as the law will allow. It's an Inspector-Clouseau-like failure of law enforcement, not a gun control issue.

Another way to reduce school shootings is to start throwing parents into prison.

If your kid shoots someone, you go to prison unless you can show you had no reason to know he had violent tenancies, or you took steps to report and disarm him. It's insane that we tolerate parents who let their mentally ill and violent kids have guns.

The good people that took that serial maniac under their roof should stop talking immediately....they could and will be held liable when the lawsuits start to fly....They knew he had weapons....it's not fair but they are the ones that will have to pay the piper....

Shouldn’t we be blaming the guns and not the people that took him in, not the 39 calls to the house for abuse, not the Facebook page, it was just the guns fault. Let the kid go and lock up the guns for life!
