They say that it's just part of the game.
No it's not.
Seems a new rule against helmet contact is exposing NFL players as the head hunters they have been rumored to be. Yet they felt that they could get away with blaming the NFL for concussions. Concussions that are leading to permanent brain damage.
If you've been watching NFL pre-season games it appears that most of those concussions could have been avoided, but instead (now that it has become a focus of the league) happened intentionally. It's like these guys never learn. You would think that causing your team a 15 yard penalty would be enough incentive to change your behavior, but no. Over and over last night defenders who could have tackled a player correctly chose to ram their helmet into a defenseless opponent's head.
Michael Strahan, formerly of the NY Giants, said that it was part of normal tackling technique to lead with your head. Bull Shit. You never tackle someone when you can't see what you're tackling. What Michael is illustrating is the tactic of ramming your body into an opponent using a heavy piece of ballistic material better known as a football helmet.
I played the game. I never intentionally tried to hurt somebody on the field like these guys do several times in every game. I remember what it's like, the ringing in my ears when I would accidentally bump heads with another player. But just about every tackle is the same. Bash the crap out of the guy with what, on the street, would be considered a weapon. Well, now the NFL has had enough of the lawsuits and criticism from players and the media. Now the focus is on them. They're gonna have to change, or, when the games start to count again, maybe cost their team a win.
Okay, I'm done ranting.
You can go back to bashing Trump now.
