... is, I believe, legalising and regulating drugs - effectively getting rid of the global war on drugs.

Some great arguments against the war on drugs and for legalisation/regulation made by members of LEAP (Law Enforcement Against Prohibition):

And this one ...

Transform's homepage that is chockfull of facts about the failed drug war and ideas about what and how to fix our predicament: The Case for Reform | Transform: Getting Drugs Under Control

I don't care for drugs. All I've ever used was alcohol, tobacco, MJ and even ventured to the shroom-land once upon a time. I'm not an avid drug user. I drink a glass of wine here and there, have a cig when I'm out on the town and MJ is something that I can use perhaps 2-3 times a year. Mushrooms scared me, so no more mushrooms for me.

However, what I do care for are my kids. I don't want them to grow up during war on drugs. I want this ridiculous 'war' to be over by the time they grow up and start seriously exploring the world around them. I know they will experiment, they will 'have fun,' etc. and I'd like them to be able to do that in the safest possible way.

I am also absolutely flabbergasted by the amount of money that is being annually spent on this ridiculous 'war,' money (c/a 100 billion dollars per year worldwide) that would be better used on education, environmental protection, healthcare, scientific research and innovation, etc. Not to mention the amount of revenue the drugs would bring countries through regulation/taxation!

The only effect the use of recreational drugs will ever have on the evolution of civilization is the elimination of a few people from the gene pool, which I find yo be incredibly unfortunate.

You have to understand, the global government, in order to operate, needs secret revenue streams. It also needs a reason to exist.

One of those streams comes from the profiteering of drugs.

There is a literally a HUGE black market economy that the legitimate economy rests on. The world wide banking system depends on laundering huge amounts of cash. This cash then funds political campaigns, off the books tech projects, and clandestine operations.

No, drugs will never be legal. In fact, they may someday make all guns and liquor illegal if they had the power to. Maybe they will even make porn and liquor illegal. The more things they can make illegal, the more gangs and organized crime proliferates, the more money and power the State can accumulate protecting the pubic from the very things it outlawed.

The State always excels in creating a need for it's own existence.

I don't think you're correct. You go a little too far down the conspiracy hole for my taste. You of course have the right to hold whatever views you want.

There are clear signs of progress: Portugal has legalised drugs. Possession of small amounts of certain drugs (for personal use) was legalised in the Czech Republic, not to mention the few US states that have legalised grass... I'm feeling optimistic, I just want the process to speed up.

The next step should be the correct spelling of civilization.

Have you ever heard of 'British English'? They also write 'neighbour, labour and aluminium'.

Ignore the human spellcheckers, and just use them. I have one that stalks me on this board as well, so I just let him do his job (it keeps them busy like a barney video for kids).

Marijuana should have been legalized long ago, the other drugs only if well regulated and available on a 'prescription' type basis. There are drugs that are very addictive to primates and they cause violent behavior. These have to be regulated for sure.

As a citizen of Canada, Member of the Commonwealth of Nations, formerly "The British Commonwealth", Once the British Empire (on which the sun never set), and still a loyal subject of Her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, and Head of the Commonwealth....

I can confirm that. It really screws me up when I'm posting on U.S. websites, I try to use their bastardised spelling so as not to confuse. I still use the s in "civilisation" most of the time and by instinct I still prefer "labour" and "neighbour".

P.S. Curiosity is killing me, your "Location" is not on a google map. On the web is this. so I guess you're a fan of electronic music who wants an anonymous location? Hmmm....your knowledge of British spelling....Hmmm...

On my scamper thru cyberspace I thought I caught a glimpse of Neser Boha but I was looking for Nordic Bayou at the time and failed to note the coincidence. It's none of my business but you are killing me...

New Brunswick?

I'm an Earthian just like you ;)

I did spend a decade in the USA and studied at an american university; the professors I studied under have never considered British spelling a problem and never corrected me.

Take all the drugs you want, but if you are on drugs you get $0.00 welfare none we are not going to financially support a bunch of drug brained losers.

Could you please read information presented to you on those links I provided or at least watch the videos?

This has NOTHING to do with 'taking as many drugs as you want...'

You are totally missing the point.

That is the point. Drugs screw people up in ways alcohol can only dream of. Druggies live in an alternative universe and are typically unproductive or useful.

There is nothing your links can tell me that I don't already know. Recreational drugs are bad for people, that indisputable fact will not change. If you can get high and still pull your own weight in society fine but I'm not going to work overtime to pay the bills of people who choose to sit around on their fat lard asses getting high.

They may, try them. I swear it won't be a waste of your time.

Reading/watching something that you might feel you may disagree with from time to time is healthy, it broadens horizons, educates you and allows you to reflect. Just give it a try and see.

These are former DEA agents/police officers speaking and it has nothing to do with justifying people 'sitting around and taking drugs' nor about supporting such a habit.

That is not the point. If you watched the videos I presented or read the links, you would know that this is NOT what this is about ...
