Newt the ethanol lobbyist

That's not what she said. She said that he supported single payer, not a mandate.

Incidently, supporting a mandate in 1993 wasn't such a bad idea, compared to what Hillary was proposing. But that was back when you could get health insurance for a reasonable price.

Today it would cost $10,000 to get insurance for a family when the median family income is $50,000. That's what makes a mandate so onerous.

Newt supported "Obamacare."
Yep. And he also supported a single payer system modeled on Medicare for poor people. He kept changing his mind depending on whether or not Democrats supported whatever he was peddling.

I have no doubt he does or has but I have yet to find where it says he actually does support it.

1.) If you look up a picture of establishment in the dictionary, you'll see a picture of Newt's face.

2.) Of course Newt Gingrich at one point supported 'Obamacare'. 'Obamacare' is in many ways the same plan that the GOP offered up in the early 90's in response to the Clinton plan. Of course we all know how "socialist" the GOP was in the 90's.

In the 1990's, that plan was feasible because health insurance was as affordable as auto insurance....

Today it isn't. A median family making 50K can't afford a 10K family plan.

The cost is largely hidden now because employers are paying it, getting a huge tax deduction they wouldn't get if they offered it as straight salary and you are on your own. BUt as the costs continue to spiral, more and more companies are dropping health coverage, or getting coverage that is worse.

Not to mention the insurance companies encouraging companies to get rid of people who run up a lot of expenses. (Which is something my last job did to a few people, including myself.)
