New York’s Single-Payer Health Care Plan Would Be More Expensive Than The Entire State Government

Go ahead, tards, pound the final nail into the coffin that is your state. People are already moving away. Go ahead and drive them all out.

Tax the wealthy..end of problem.

What do you do when the wealthy leave? That's the problem with simplistic thinking. Tax them too much and they simply abandon your country. Taking all of that purchasing power with them.

Where would the wealthy go? The remaining options are third world countries or countries where socialism and higher taxes already dominate. Do you think Bill Gates would be taxed any less in Canada?

Switzerland, Monaco, to name two.
Bermuda, Grand Cayman, Luxembourg...

Obviously you've never been to Switzerland. Good luck paying $9 for the equivalent of a fast food hamburger.

Ummm, when you're rich, nine bucks is considered pocket change.

So are the tax increases.

The tax increases affect the poor and middle class far more than they do the rich. You watch Cali, brown has raised taxes on everything. The middle class are trapped but the rich are already leaving. All of the silicon valley companies are expanding out of Cali. As soon as they have their footprints settled they will abandon that state completely. Then you will see how rapidly the socialist system fails.

Yeah. I'm not sure people realize what a radical move government health care is. It will massively expand the role of government in our lives. Our health care has become a 'ward of the state'.

You should be celebrating. Under trump/ryan "care", insurance and pharm will get big bucks, the wealthy get yet another tax break, the working class either die or go bankrupt, hospitals and clinics close down but by god damn, "government" isn't in our health care.

But govt will still have a bigger part of our lives than ever before and you can kiss basic rights goodbye.

New York collected about $71 billion in tax revenue last year. In 2019, when the single-payer plan would be enacted, the state expects to vacuum up about $82 billion. To pay for health care for all New Yorkers, though, the state would need to find another $91 billion annually.

And that's the optimistic view. In reality, the program is likely to cost more—a lot more.

They already are, it is NOT working.

What makes you think he supports TrumpCare? There was a lot of conservative opposition to it.

That was my point. They can pay the extremely high prices (compared to here) for everything in Switzerland, or pay higher taxes here... Either way they're spending more money for service, and it's pocket change either way.

Higher taxes never end. They can make far more in Switzerland, and reinvest that money to make more so that they can afford to pay for whatever they want. Here in certain States, they are ground under the ever more oppressive thumb of big government. Socialism works great till you run out of other peoples money.

Yep. As I've said, the Democrats work hard to expand government power, and Republicans show us why it's a bad idea.
