From 1999, a very interesting New York Times article explaining how the expanded "Homes for Everybody" mentality of the Clinton administration, enforced by Fannie and Freddie, could create the need for a bailout down the road.

It is both astounding and troubling how so many in the media today refuse to even acknowledge their own words of the past in showing how this mess really started.

It was both sides that created this mess, and neither will admit it.
