New Threats Against Europe

The statement run by the Asharq al-Awsat newspaper referred to a 90 day cease-fire for attacks in Europe that the leader of al-Qaida, Osama bin Laden, declared on April 15.

``To the European people: only few days remain for you to accept the truce offered by bin Laden. Otherwise you will have nobody but yourself to blame,'' the paper quoted the statement as saying.

Since when do terrorists offer cease fires? I guess they're taking a page from hitler in the 1930's. Sign a cease fire and then attack them anyway.

Echos of Sadr....

i bet they'll start hitting ultra soft targets like hospitals and schools during the olympics while the majority of the world is worried about the security in athens.

i almost hope they do something so monsterous, that way many of the angry muslim crowd in europe will be shocked into common sense and reality and not join a jihad once they see innocent children and otherwise injured and sick people killed and maimed by mass murderers.

IF 9/11 and 3/11 didn't 'awaken' them, do you really think hospitals and schools will? They've not only ignored that happening in Israel for the past 4 years, they support the Palestinians. France is becoming Islamic, in spite of the 'tough stand' on headwear.

i hope it eventually does awaken them, who knows? i won't abandon them outright. bush is such a polarizing figure there, it seems whatever he does, they do the opposite... maybe by 2008 when a new republican or democrat is in office..?

the european jewish community is an influential factor in all that remember... and they've been harshly condemning most of the practices of ariel sharon and his government, especially the settlements and the harsh military measures taken against palestinian civilians, all reasonable and fair criticisms of israel's government. and basically, america has taken the side of israel now, so europe and the rest of the world will naturally take the side of the palestinians, as will i to an extent. i love israel, but they cannot continue to build their settlements and treat the greater palestinian populace with such disdain. i am glad that most of israel is now waking up to this reality and pressing for change and reform. the palestinians are more wrong, but that doesn't make the israelis more right.

Interesting that you can make this Bush's fault. It's amazing. As I pointed out in a post on other thread, Kosovo was a main problem, which was under Clinton.

Many in Europe think the Jews, (the joos, the joos, they are behind everything wrong!!!), should get out while they can. Anti-semitism is out in the open again, (it never left Europe), but
the violence against them is escalating rapidly. England with the UN established Israel and Palestine, but the Palestinians rejected theirs. Israel now has the responsibility of protecting its citizens and its state. If that takes a wall, then it takes a wall. They want the Palis to have a state, as you said, overwhelming they want that. Problem is, Palis want all of it, not just a part. Not going to happen....

that's the shabby leaders the palestinains have........ every poll i've ever seen has shown palestinians would accept a peace agreement.

yes israel has a right to defend itself, i agree.

anti-semetism is on the rise again, that is true. something must be done about that on a widespread scale in europe.... do you know of anything?

and yes kosovo was a main problem of clinton's, not bush. bush did the right thing (as did clinton) and helped send NATO into Macedonia to prevent a civil war there. bravo mr. bush.

Polls are one thing, actions another. They make bombs in the open with Reuters and Arab photographers right there snapping the pics and writing the stories. The press is part of the problem, giving them hope that the violence will lead to the end of Israel.

If I was a Jew in Europe I would get out. Israel, perhaps. I might die, but at least for a cause. In Europe I would die for their catharsis and excuses. Most probable, get to the US, and I would try for refugee status if from France or Belgium or Netherlands.

Europe is not a place for Jews, the anti-Semitism runs too deep.

ouch.

its that bad? i didn't know that.

i know a jewish girl who lives in poland. she doesn't seem to have any problems, and her uncle is a rabbi. maybe its just poland?

that's sad.

and yea, the palestinians are in a sorry shape. give them a good leader one day, and you'll see progress. god knows when that will be though. he'd almost have to be ex-hamas or islamic jihad, a man like sadat who realized the status quo would not hold and sacrifice had to be made.

Europe is not that bad, yet. It's starting again though, reason I'd ask for refugee status from those states is that they are the worst offenders and it's time for them to be held up to the light.

Sorry, Kathianne, but Europe is a complete basketcase. Rummy was right.

I'm European and I'm heartily ashamed of the limp-wristed policies the Europeans have for dealing with the Islamo-fascists. Everything is Israel's fault - it's sickening to read it day in, day out. I'm afraid it would take something cataclysmic, like a nuclear bombing by the Islamo-fascists of a major city in Europe, to wake Europeans up. Even then, there is no guarantee they would get the call right. The population of Europe has been under the control of the liberal establishment (schools, media, politicians etc) since WW2 and the results are now there for all to see.

Where can I get my US passport - I want out of here!!

Geez :( To hear it from a Brit, that's pretty sad. Was hoping that it was partly our perceptions. So is Blair going to have to step down, you think?

How much of the world's anti-semitism is a result of the US support for Israel and how much of it is purely racial? I would be interested to know the ratio.

Kathianne, I think Blair is a dead man walking.

The liberals and the media have the knives out for him and its 50/50 whether he will see the next election in power. The very ones who were praising him for ousting the Tories in 1997 are now in a feeding frenzy of hatred against the guy - all because he supported the US on Iraq. The liberals hate Bush - simple as that - and everyone who sides with him. It's pathetic.

Depressing it is.

Having said that, apart from Iraq, Blair is just the acceptable face of socialism (if such a thing is possible to have) that his party had to present to the public in order to get into power. They were out for 17 years, so they figured they had to drink with the devil. On all issues of substance (apart from Iraq), however, he has all his policies watered down by the left wing liberals.

Like I said - someone turn the lights out please! Blair won't be around for too much longer, I think.

Ok, maybe you can help me here, as I might as well get totally depressed. Why do you think books bashing America are selling so well in Europe, especially France? Do you think France will be an Islamic state eventually?

i respect him so much... he really put a damn good foreign policy and made me proud of britain and it being our ally. he saved sierra leonne, helped keep NATO together during Kosovo and brought Britain to the forefront in Afghanistan and Iraq. his social policies of late have pissed off liberal labor a lot too right? the whole college fee restructuring and issues like that?

Kathianne, anti-US books sell well here because the people buying them are assholes. Simple as that! There are plenty of liberal assholes in ol' Europe as I said.

Anyway, your analysis of the ills of Europe (on another thread) said it all far more eloquently than I ever could. The liberal establishment has had a strong grip on all the institutions, especially since the end of WW2, and the population has been spoon-fed liberal crap since birth.

One thing I don't understand - your a social sciences teacher and yet you're not a liberal! Not complaining, but you must be a one in a million!
