I understood the 1st day of SCOTUS hearings to be on 4 Oct. If Kavanaugh is not on the bench by then, it means he can't vote on the decision for that case, but he could for all the ones that follow that if and when he gets confirmed. Which BTW seems to be in some doubt if more and more lib/dem women begin to accuse him of sexual misconduct in some fashion or another. Sooo,

Can Chief Justice Roberts delay that 1st case a few days if it appears Kavanaugh will be confirmed? I.E., the Senate is over and he was confirmed by the whole Senate but not yet sworn in.

How long at a minimum is it required for the full Senate to debate a nominee's qualifications and character before a vote is taken?

Can and should the US Senate make or change their rules in the confirmation process to exclude last minute accusations that are made after the confirmation hearings have started? This is political bullshit IMHO, if a person has an accusation of any kind of wrongdoing by the nominee then it needs to be brought to the Senate's attention prior to the 1st day of hearings. This is to offer the accused as well as the accuser the chance to tell their story and be questioned about it. If it isn't done by then, tough cookies, it shouldn't be a part of the Judiciary Committee's deliberations. Senators can vote one way or the other in the full Senate but it's time to stop the circus.
