The new power plants are using natural gas. That is the primary cause of the loss of coal mining jobs. And the damage that the mountain top mining has done environmentaly is criminal.

Just Google images of mountaintop mining. It's disgusting.

I've always had a soft heart for coal miners. It's dangerous hard work. However, it's time to say goodbye to coal. Romney's 'war on coal' ad will only resonate with those unwilling to see the big picture.

A President states that his intent is to bankrupt a specific industry.
Is the industry you work in next?

I grew up in eastern KY, I saw the stream thru my homeplace run black with strip mine waste, I saw all life in the stream killed, no minnows or crawdads.
It took 30 years to get life back in that stream, and the mountain will never recover.

If you lived next to a strip mine you would be against them too.
You want a landfill behind your house?
An offshore well next to your beach?
A nuculear plant down the street?

Hopefully so, if it's harmful to people and planet.
