New Poll - Obama 54% - Romney 43% - Conservatives begin to Panic

If the general election were held today instead of in early November, 54% of registered voters say they would back Obama, with 43% supporting former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, the front-runner in the GOP nomination battle. That's up from a five-point 51%-46% advantage the president held over Romney in February.

And a CNN/ORC International survey released Wednesday also indicates that the president's approval rating has inched over the 50% mark in CNN surveys for the first time since last May, when the polls were still registering the after effects of the death of Osama bin Laden. The number of Americans who say the economy's in good shape has jumped 13 points since January, though the survey shows a majority still think it is in poor shape.

And Obama would have a 55%-42% lead over Santorum, the former senator from Pennsylvania who's Romney's main rival right now for the nomination. The president led Santorum by a seven-point 52%-45% margin last month.

Great news. Thanks for posting it. Our prez is kicking some Republican ass all over the place!!! I'm so glad.

LOL, I love early over-confidence. We have a ways to go. If Obama wasn't at this point that would be troubling for the D's! The key early indicator will be after the first debate. Then get excited if he is winning.

Two moments that could be Gettsburg or Waterloo for Obama
(1) Where unemployment is at in Nov? Bet your ass if unemployment is over 8%, Obama will not be able to spin the election is going well. If it gets into the 7% it will be easier. If it somehow got under 7% Obama will not only win, but he will have a Democratic House and Senate.

(2) Obamacare: It was his baby, his crown jewel. If it gets shot down by the Supreme Court, consider that a blow to the President. If the court doesn't shoot it down then that will be a HUGE boost to the Obama!

Romney by 2% on Rasmussen, TODAY.

Maybe in Salt Lake City.

The evangelical turnout is sure to be weak. Many of them really believe (in their heart of hearts) that Romney's a cultist. It seems safe to expect a subversive effort from certain pro-Obama camps to play on the fundies' fears -- an effort Obama would be able to distance himself from, of course!

How about this 'poll'

"WASHINGTON – Before taking up their own budget plan for next year, House Republicans pushed a version of President Obama's $3.6 trillion budget to the floor for a vote, and it was it was unanimously defeated, 414-0."

I expect that from a CNN poll. It's right out of media matters.

After listening to obama announce that he intends to take us from expensive gas to no gas at all because he wants everyone to buy new cars and new homes that's what puts me in a panic.

Oh yeah? Check the RASMUSSEN poll and get back to me with that attitude...

Romney by 2% on Rasmussen, TODAY.

Yes, I stand corrected. Yesterday, it was Obama by 3%....5% swing in one day. So much for DAILY tracking polls, I guess?

I’ll bet you haven’t been this excited since your first Amway meeting.
I hate to be a buzz-kill, but you are as twisted as one of those party tramps from the Pitbull Bon, Bon commercial.

Did you see the vote in the House yesterday on the Obama budget?
Guess how many Democrats voted for it?

Hint: less than one.

It was 414 to Zero.

No Dem supported the President.....which leads to this question: what do they realize that you don't?

So....have you picked out an avi with the Republican President for November?

Yes people, November is still a long way off. Will Romney get a personality transplant and learn to understand the plight of the poor and average person? Will Obama lose his speaking skills with terminal laryngitis? Will Hispanics find it in their heart to forget Romney's pledge to veto the Dream Act? Will the rust belt forget who saved GM? Yes, a lot can happen between now and November, but it's clear that Americans are making up their minds about Romney's values and message, and they don't seem to like what they see.

I wonder if Romney will have his new car elevator installed and operational in his new beach house by then?

GOP lawmakers forced the vote on Obama's plan as a tactical move aiming at embarrassing Democrats. The Democrats have defended Obama's budget priorities, but they largely voted "no" Wednesday night.

Republicans said Democrats were afraid to vote for Obama's proposed tax increases and extra spending for energy and welfare. Democrats said Republicans had forced a vote on a version of Obama's budget that contained only its numbers, not the policies he would use to achieve them.

The budget was offered by Rep. Mick Mulvaney, R-S.C., to show how few votes the president's budget might get.

meh..............

Rasmussen has Romney up +2 on Obama today. Nobody cares about a CNN poll.

Daily Presidential Tracking Poll - Rasmussen Reports™

No worries here. Ive been chomping at the bit for November 2012 for two 1/2 years now. The spinners are going to spin their ases off until the cows come home. Bottom line? In the last 60 years, any incumbent under 50% gets steamrolled in the general. The economy is still crap.........gas skyrocketing thrugh at lest mid-summer. And now this tool is pulling this race card shit again. My plans have been set since the summer of 2009 for election night: good beer, some wings and watching MSNBC.:2up:

Look at who took the the poll. CNN polls registered voters while other polls interview likely voters. There is a big difference there. Rasmussen polls likely voters and he has Romney up by 2 points, which is as meaningless as the CNN poll. The only other poll included in Realclear Politics summary of polls that uses likely voters is Bloomberg which shows Obama and Romney tied. After the nomination is secured Romney will focus on Obama and his ineptness and numbers will then start to solidify. I would propose that Romney's first ad show Obama describing himself as "somewhat lazy" and then go from there.

I suspect that of the 1,014 registered voters used in the poll nationwide the only ones selected to be included in the poll were favorable to Obama, such are disreputable polls..

No need to get your undies undies in a twist...

Polls....Are not elections.
Polls are not scientific and are often skewed. Polls often ask questions designed to elicit a pre-determined response.
Polls are for the uninformed and stupid.
Polls are often inaccurate.
There is a poster on here who calls himself "kerry won ohio'...His handle is based on his belief that John Kerry took Ohio. He cites... (LOL) exit polls.....Sheesh.
Enough with the fucking polls.

Pretty good numbers, but it's still too far out to take it seriously.
totally agreed, although if this poll was the other way around, conservative would have started 10 threads and be in 100% agreement that Obama is gone. now they have to face reality

Nope...I pay little attention to polls.
The reality your side must face is.....High energy prices, rising cost of consumer goods, falling home values, longer than one year for days on market, falling housing starts, Dollar falling in value, $15 trillion deficit.
If you don't think these items will not adversely affect Obama's run, you're living in a parallel universe.

Obama is in trouble. Other Dems are keeping their distance from anything with his name on it, but the damage has already been done. The mid terms of '10 was half the job (you didn't believe the polls then did you?) the tea party is far from dead and as working folk know, the job is only half done (you didn't believe the press about the 'non factor' tea party before the last midterm did you?)

Obama is going to loose in epic proportion, the Dems are moving away from him, but they can't move away far enough or fast enough
