Yes I am a left winger, however if we all could spend more time trying to figure out how to make things better, instead of just bashing each other, boy we could get a lot done!

Every day I see the same type of attack ads' and news attacks from both left and right wing news stations.

Think about it, what a waste of time, when it really comes down to it!

I know we all want the same happiness and good things of life, then why don’t we pursue them by working together, rather than against each other?

I just don’t get it.
hell I would be willing to work with any right winger to make things right (i mean left, ha-ha just kidding), even if it means giving a little more than I want to.

I wish the heavy hitters of the left and the right would do the same..

wishful thinking tho :(

Maybe we need a new party! one that combines the best of all of them!

hmm what would that consist of!

We don't need a party.

We need people to ignore biased media and to think for themselves.
Democracy takes place through the popular vote. Political parties mitigate democracy.

I agree we do. But I think we would still need a party for some type of structure.

what that would be, I am not sure.. But It would require quite a bit of discussion, and
compromise I would think!

Indeed.

I think the party should leave some domestic issues alone and focus on tax, federal issues, and diplomacy regarding international matters.

Also, the party can help keep this economy going since we are a Capitalist economy, and well..... It has it's cons.

Those are some very good and interesting points my friend:)

What we need is either one of two processes (or both).

Either we need a knowledge test to make sure that you know something about current events, politics, history, and the Constitution before you are allowed to vote. Nothing terribly complicated, basic stuff.

or

We need to have a law that every candidate for office apply to the public with all of the following: resume, a written proposal outlining the problems facing the constituency he/she will be serving and exactly what the candidate plans to do about it. These proposals need to be reviewed by a panel of professionals in the areas addressed. If you don't cut the muster, you cannot run.

I thought us liberals were supposed to be the elitists...

All of the hell and fury of election cycles boils down to a Bill and a Vote on the floor of Congress. ASSUMING you have qualified people in those seats really don't mean a damn because at that point -- ALL THE POWER is concentrated in the hands of the Party leadership. They have a hugely disproportional say in what bills get voted and what the rules will be.. Diss the party leadership and you wander the desert til your own party consumes you in the next election..

So with only 2 parties -- there's no place for independent thinking politicians to flee to. We definately need more choices. And there is one choice that will be on ballot in all 50 states running a candidate with a BETTER record of 8 yrs of governorship than the other 2 clowns had when they initially sought the Prez..

No, we dont need a new party, the Democrat voters need to vote the socialist/communists out of their party, and the Republicans need to keep voting Constitutional conservatives in while voting the Rinos out. The system was designed for there not to be so much reaching over the isle and bipartisan bullshit legislation, and I think it should go back to that, because a government in gridlock is impossible to grow.
