but zydeco ain't a N'awlins sound...

it comes from the prairie part of cajun country...

'bout a hunnert 'n fifty miles west of NOLA...

I know your swamp. Check what I posted again. They don't even know the difference between cajun and creole. what a sin.

By the way. Just for fun. Is your momma catholic?

And Lord Almighty forgive me. But I had to ask. :eusa_angel:

yep... my mom's catholic... her mom was a catholic who happened to marry a presbyterian fella... but 'a course she raised her daughter in the cat'lick faith 'cause that's how it was done back then...

and btw, my mom's mom was a Swayze... which is the point on my side where you and I are connected by blood... :)

See this is why I love ya.

You got Swayze? I got the Boone. :D Now that's scary.

There is this one chick though that I heard. Zydeco is so wild I love it to death. I heard this one chick man she just kills tunes.

I think her name is Rosie Ledet pardon spelling. Man she rocks. But then that's the point of zydeco. It's killer. It's the wildest. I love it. It's crazy.

I know where you are. And by all means educate me. I saw this girl just rocking her face off. I'll take it from a moment where I go I hung a right turn when I'm coming south.

She was unreal. You should see what we have with Metis players. They'll make you sob.

This girl was unreal. Now we have some up here....honest Bill. These kids are so good they almost make me want to get back into the business again.

I love him and all.
But Bird on a Wire by Tim you know the guy that first sang the song....Riverboat. Yeah saw it, heard it.

i can't begin to tell you how exciting i find that

please, tell me more

Sorry about not getting back to you. This thread just came back up again. I had never heard Cohen sing the song. It's a classic of his and of course I've heard it since.

But the first time I heard it was at the Riverboat when Tim Hardin played there. The Riverboat was this amazing very small coffee house in Yorkville and you saw every one there. It was the premiere place for folkies and indies.

And with all due respect to Cohen and the Neville Brothers, I still think he has the best version.

well... at least they're not west-coast cajun-wanna-be poseurs like Fogarty & Co...

What I find really cool is that basically you have your own music industry in Louisiana that sustains itself.

We have that up here in a couple of ways. Quebec has always had its own industry and same with the east coast.

People don't worry about breaking out. They can make a living in their own territories.
