New NASA study links current extreme summer events to climate change

NASA is a bunch of Liberal Tree Huggers

I prefer the opinion of Glenn Beck

James Hansen is a well-known hack who has been caught doctoring the data multiple times.

In fact, Dr. Hansen is a world class scientist, greatly honored by his peers in the world scientific community.

The fact that you believe the idiotic smears and denier cult myths against him is good evidence of just how extremely retarded and brainwashed you are, patticakes.

Keep telling yourself that. The difference between your position and mine is I can list actual scientists who think he is a hack, and all you can point to is Al Gore.

NASA used to run the Space Shuttle program but now that it has been shut down by the socialist peoples party and nobody was fired they need a new mission. God help us now but it seems that "the right stuff" is dedicated to ruining the greatest Country in the world with the continued international global warming extortion scam.
Yeah riiiiight.....but then again, you only believe that retarded nonsense because you're a brainwashed moron

Honors and awards

Hansen was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 1996 for his "development of pioneering radiative transfer models and studies of planetary atmospheres; development of simplified and three-dimensional global climate models; explication of climate forcing mechanisms; analysis of current climate trends from observational data; and projections of anthropogenic impacts on the global climate system."[71] In 2001, he received the 7th Annual Heinz Award in the Environment (endowed with US$250,000) for his research on global warming,[72] and was listed as one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in 2006. Also in 2006, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) selected James Hansen to receive its Award for Scientific Freedom and Responsibility "for his courageous and steadfast advocacy in support of scientists' responsibilities to communicate their scientific opinions and findings openly and honestly on matters of public importance."[73]

In 2007, Hansen shared the US $1-million Dan David Prize for "achievements having an outstanding scientific, technological, cultural or social impact on our world". In 2008, he received the PNC Bank Common Wealth Award of Distinguished Service for his "outstanding achievements" in science. At the end of 2008, Hansen was named by EarthSky Communications and a panel of 600 scientist-advisors as the Scientist Communicator of the Year, citing him as an "outspoken authority on climate change" who had "best communicated with the public about vital science issues or concepts during 2008."[74]

In 2009, Hansen was awarded the 2009 Carl-Gustaf Rossby Research Medal,[74] the highest honor bestowed by the American Meteorological Society, for his "outstanding contributions to climate modeling, understanding climate change forcings and sensitivity, and for clear communication of climate science in the public arena."[75]

Hansen won the 2010 Sophie Prize, set up in 1997 by Norwegian Jostein Gaarder, the author of the 1991 best-selling novel and teenagers' guide to philosophy "Sophie's World",[76] for his " key role for the development of our understanding of human-induced climate change."

Congratulations, you know how to use Wikipedia.

Now you can explain why you think I would be impressed by a bunch of awards from the non scientific community. Do you think I am stupid enough to think that a bunch of people that can't explain the difference between a proton and an electron can possibly understand who is, and is not, good at science?

The "Heinz award"...:
The Heinz Awards, administered by the Heinz Family Foundation, recognize outstanding individuals for their contributions in the areas of: Arts and Humanities, Environment, Human Condition, Public Policy, and Technology, the Economy and Employment.
nancy-knowlton.jpg
The Dan David Prize
awarded for achievements having an outstanding scientific, technological, cultural or social impact on our world.
Laureates 2007 - 2007 Future - Quest for Energy
Dr. Hansen, affiliated with the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies....
Dr. Hansen is well-known for his temperature forecasts from his general circulation atmospheric model, calculated and published in 1988, of future temperature rises for Earth's atmosphere, in which his "moderate growth scenario" for the intervening 18 years is in excellent agreement with the observed global temperature change to 2006.
Well at least they don`t inflate him to "Top NASA SCIENTIST" or "NASA Scientist" and describe him as affiliated with NASA .
Since then we now how "excellent" the agreement was and why, after the e-mails became public.
If I wanted to know which "outstanding scientific achievements" got an award in 2007 I`ld look at the Nobel Prize:
The Nobel Prize in Physics 2007 was awarded jointly to Albert Fert and Peter Grünberg "for the discovery of Giant Magnetoresistance"
grunberg.jpg
fert.jpg

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2007 was awarded to Gerhard Ertl "for his studies of chemical processes on solid surfaces".
ertl.jpg
But we should be impressed who won the "Sophie Prize" instead..
The Sophie Prize | Facebook
The Sophie Prize is an international award (US $ 100,000) established to inspire people to work towards a sustainable future.
Okay then , lets all applaud the latest award winner:
The Sophie Prize

Sophie Prize Winner 2012: Eva Joly

The Sophie Prize 2012 is awarded to Eva Joly for fighting a culture of greediness which creates social and environmental problems.

Which culture is that...? The public sector Unions?

I think you're far too retarded to be impressed by anything real. You're obviously too stupid to realize that many of Hansen's "awards" and honors come from the scientific community so I highlighted those in red this time, you pathetic moron.

Do you think I am stupid enough...
...to swallow the lies and misinformation fed to you by the propagandists working for the fossil fuel industry? YES! Actually, going by the drivel you post, I'd say you were even more stupid than that.

No, you don't ever seem to do that, except in the most retarded way possible.

that a bunch of people that can't explain the difference between a proton and an electron can possibly understand who is, and is not, good at science?
LOLOLOLOL. You mean these people....

National Academy of Sciences
American Association for the Advancement of Science
EarthSky Communications
American Meteorological Society

Have you always been so retarded, fartbag, or did you take drugs that reduced your brain to its present pitiful state?

By the way have You noticed how the terminology changed yet again?
What started out as "Global Warming" changed after the e-mail scandal to "Climate change" and now that the true data is emerging the new term You hear more and more is "extreme weather events"....due to CO2 of course..!

The truth hurts those who spread lies.
After the Rockefeller.orgs , Greenpeace, the Sierra Club, the David Suzuki.org have already been nailed by Revenue Canada for Tax Fraud the rest of them are already in our gun sights.
The latest "Solar activity" @ Sun News exposed a massive tax fraud of another 36 Environment.org`s for which the U.S. based San Francisco Tides.org laundered money.
Look at the hate responses by enviro freaks that followed a previus segment after "Greenpeace" got nailed...(middle of the video)...sounds a lot like the freaks that go ballistic here every time they get de-bunked

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pk6j-zyp2EE&list=UUvj7dbOY14kt_MFIR1Y1iwA&index=1&feature=plcp"]Sun News exposes Enviro org Tax Frauds - YouTube[/ame]

You and me are supposed to pay "Carbon Taxes" while these con-artists commit income tax fraud on a massive scale...
Like I said, it`s only a question of time before the same Enviro-freak dirt becomes public south of our border as well, except that Obama won`t act on it like our Prime Minister.
Next segment....
In Germany these "smart meters" are already used to penalize residents when the wind or solar is too low . Legislation is also tabled which will limit each German household to a maximum 2KVA load at any time...monitored with these "smart meters". Any spike above the "Load curtailment" results in severe penalties.
German consumers already pay 4 times the rate we do ever since they tried to power the grid with wind and solar.

Ontario is a Province with a liberal Government that copied the German "green power grid"....and now they get the same "smart meters" as in Germany:

Even apes have the ability to observe the mistakes others made and learn from that.
Not Left wig nuts, no matter what they call themselves, "Liberals" "Democrats" ...in fact they are nothing else
the Neo Communists which are trying to sell ideas which have proven to be complete failures in Europe to
North America. Be that solar or wind mill power and even social programs like Obama care.

Most of Europe already dumped it years ago and we are about to do the same in Canada...returning to private health insurance.
Too bad so many Americans got brainwashed by Hollywood`s M.Moore`s film praising Canada`s sorry health care system as an enviable example...
Then it became Obama`s election platform...and sure enough there were enough naive and ill informed people who fell for him.
Since a few months, almost every day there are "doomsday scenarios" on the History or the Discovery channel...how we are all going to croak when the oil runs out while not a quarter year goes by without more and ever larger oil discoveries not just in Alberta but in Canada`s arctic. Recent projections are there is enough oil for Canada and it`s allies for over 250 years..!!!! Why the f-ck should we care about China and Europe anyway.???

Dr. James Hansen is respected as the world's foremost climatologist around the world. All the retarded posts on an inconsequencial message board will not change that in the slightest.

And yet he has no credentials in climatology. According to you and yours that automatically disqualifies him from being able to state an opinion. Interesting how you forgive and laud him because he agrees with your position but those who don't but are equally qualified aren't allowed to have an opinion:eusa_whistle::eusa_whistle::eusa_whistle:

Research Interests:
As a college student in Iowa, I was attracted to science and research by James Van Allen's space science program in the physics and astronomy department. Since then, it only took me a decade or so to realize that the most exciting planetary research involves trying to understand the climate change on earth that will result from anthropogenic changes of the atmospheric composition.

One of my research interests is radiative transfer in planetary atmospheres, especially interpreting remote sounding of the earth's atmosphere and surface from satellites. Such data, appropriately analyzed, may provide one of our most effective ways to monitor and study global change on the earth. The hardest part is trying to influence the nature of the measurements obtained, so that the key information can be obtained.

I am also interested in the development and application of global numerical models for the purpose of understanding current climate trends and projecting humans' potential impacts on climate. The scientific excitement in comparing theory with data, and developing some understanding of global changes that are occurring, is what makes all the other stuff worth it.

James E. Hansen (born March 29, 1941) heads the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York City, a part of the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. He has held this position since 1981. He is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Columbia University.

After graduate school, Hansen continued his work with radiative transfer models, attempting to understand the Venusian atmosphere. Later he applied and refined these models to understand the Earth's atmosphere, in particular, the effects that aerosols and trace gases have on Earth's climate. Hansen's development and use of global climate models has contributed to the further understanding of the Earth's climate.

Hansen is best known for his research in the field of climatology, his testimony on climate change to congressional committees in 1988 that helped raise broad awareness of global warming, and his advocacy of action to avoid dangerous climate change. In recent years, Hansen has become an activist for action to mitigate the effects of climate change, which on a few occasions has led to his arrest.

Interesting that Dr. Hansen states that the weather patterns we are seeing is linked directly to the warming. Here lecture by Professor Francis providing the mechanism through which this happens.

This statement tells all:
The hardest part is trying to influence the nature of the measurements obtained, so that the key information can be obtained.

I am also interested in the development and application of global numerical models for the purpose of understanding current climate trends and projecting humans' potential impacts on climate. The scientific excitement in comparing theory with data, and developing some understanding of global changes that are occurring, is what makes all the other stuff worth it.

And that`s why hard fact science rejects Hansen "science", ...there is not even a shred of objectivity. "Global changes" are occurring because of "human`s potential impact" already at the outset, without regard if that`s a fact or not and then Hansen proceeds with what he called "the hard part"...which is "trying to influence the nature of the measurements obtained, so that the key information can be obtained."

And influencing the nature of the measurements is exactly what he did...and got caught doing !....Many times !

Now that despite all "adjustments" not a single "Climate Model" conformed to factual observation the subject is changed from "CO2 forcing/amplification" to :
Evidence linking Arctic amplification to extreme weather
Some "scientist"...! Imagine how screwed up we would be if the rest of science would do it like Hansen,...well sometimes they did in Medicine..
That`s how drugs that were either ineffective or worse, harmful appeared on the market...when "studies" showed" the results that the people pushing that drug wanted to show.

But that`s entirely consistent, be that science, politics or whatever...
The Liberal Left Lies simplified pseudo-logic sounds more convincing to naive people than Rational Right Reasoning which presumes that people are intelligent.
It shows in every (pre)-election campaign...This time we are supposed to believe that the deficit question can be solved by higher taxes for a few millionaires and Romney`s income tax became an issue, while several hundred "Environment.orgs" with a budget that dwarf Romney`s wealth are totally tax exempt.

Or I could have quoted You and wrote the same response as above...ditto...! They have elections in bankrupt (left Liberal) Quebec soon..
I wish the separatists would win and a big chunk of Canada`s left wing-nuts would separate....then the West which is pre-dominantly conservative could end these ever growing "Transfer Payments" to stave off Ontario`s and Quebec`s bankruptcy.

I have always wondered how similar people on this continent are no matter how far north or south You go. The East leans left, along the center longitudes most people are conservative and along the west coast they are city dwelling leftists again that have the same utopian delusions as on the east coast...
The entire center is populated mostly by people who have to face the consequences of the stupid political decisions the city dwellers on both coasts support...
Like blocking the pipelines that are going through there, or maybe having to work the fields with "environment friendly" tractors that should pull big machinery with 50 or so battery "powered" Chevy Volts...or should use "hydrogen diffusion fuel cells" as if a Diesel powered John Deere tractor was`nt expensive enough as it is.

By the way did see how they are trying to solve the Wind and solar power problems in Ontario? "Power smart meters" that can limit Your personal power consumption...Just like the ones in Merkel`s Germany where they pay now 4 X the price for electricity as they did before that craze started.

Here is what`s happening in Ontario, run by a Left wing-nut Liberal (near bankrupt)Government, which forces their residents to install these "Zigbee smart meters":
http://www.energy.gov.on.ca/en/smart-meters-and-tou-prices/
Ontario has introduced smart meters — along with a “time-of-use” electricity price structure — to help you manage your electricity costs, while helping Ontario to build a more efficient, more environmentally sound electricity system.
A smart meter electronically tracks how much electricity a home or small business uses and when it is used. With that information, electricity prices can vary at different times of the day, encouraging you to think more about how and when you use electricity.
Current rates per kilowatt hour*

6.5¢
Off-peak
10.0¢
Mid-peak
11.7¢
On-peak
*Prices effective May 1, 2012.
The "off peak" rates are already way more than what they were before the Ontario Energy Board and Ontario`s Obama version Premier opted for the European style Wind/Solar craze. Not long before that residential users never had to pay a "demand charge" only industrial users had "peak demand" meters.
After the rates went up there was an exodus of business from Ontario to the western provinces...and revenue fell,...now they are forcing residential users on these insane rates which most senior citizens on a fixed pension can`t afford.
In Germany where You can`t even buy any more appliances that don`t interface with 2 way "Zigbee`s" they have already tabled legislation where they are allowed to zap out Your house or Your hot water tank if You take a shower when the Windmills or the Solar can`t deliver to meet demand...+ You get a huge fine. See....that`s why spend spend spend Liberal Governments love "Climate change"...it`s a huge tax grab and "justifies" this kind of bureaucratic overreach right into Your private life and into Your home.
Why Ontario`s Government even went into the Windmill and Solar scam,...nobody knows. Ontario has a surplus of hydro-electric power just like Manitoba and exports it to the United States.
Ontario is one of these Provinces that has a huge (ignorant) "new Canadian Citizen" voter base from Asia, Eastern Europe, Africa etc that keep voting for these assholes...well that`s how Obama is also trying to stay in power

Now Bi-Polar, we all know that you are a bigoted willfully ignorant asshole, you do not have to continually prove it.
Laahdidaah sue me then ! As ever, the only shit you can come up with is name calling when you are confronted with the facts. As far as being a bigot, at least I don`t deny that all nationalities and races are NOT equal.
Neither are people of the same nationality or race. Realism and Liberalism which is a construct of delusions are on a collision course and in any competition you loose. That applies not only to an ideological conflict but also to an armed conflict. The only way your side can win is if there are more cave man zombies like you coming at us than our machine guns could handle...as was the case during ww2 at the eastern front...
By now most people should have realized that Liberalism which is almost the same (again!) as pre-ww2 communism is a dead end cul de sac. Even monkeys learn from their own mistakes and don`t repeat them, unless they inherited defective DNA....which also arrives at the fact that the Liberal equality delusion rests on the same flaw.

You have a point there. Poor germans, they just keep losing stupid wars that they start. Mybe when they evolve a bit further, they will be able to comprehend the problems.

This is the same shit we hear every time there is a heat wave for the past 20 summers or so...............

Check the web and you'll find dozens of links which explain the weather patterns that bring heat like this................Im too tired.

"Climate science" is equally silent about the 1930`s heat waves...(plural!!!). Or that the same thing happened for almost half a century when wooden vessels sailed up into the arctic. According to the M.Man(n) made climate that should have not been possible, although its in every decent history book.
Every "ab-normal" temperature is now a "climate event".
It wasn`t that long ago when these left-freaks declared the word "normal" as a dirty word...and screamed "who can define normal".
And now they claim the monopoly to that word and try tell the rest of us what "normal" and "ab-normal" is. First fags were "normal" people and now they try tell us what normal and "ab-normal" weather is.
It works like that for EVERYTHING that isn`t backed by sound science...
then it`s done with statistics and "deviations from the norm".

History begins thirty years ago. what happened before was an aberation:lol:

No, you're just too ignorant and retarded to actually find out what climate scientists take into consideration so you parrot the myths of your cult.

Intense heat
Dr. Jeff Masters
(excerpts)

During the 1930s, there was a high frequency of heat waves due to high daytime temperatures resulting in large part from an extended multi-year period of intense drought. By contrast, in the past 3 to 4 decades, there has been an increasing trend in high-humidity heat waves, which are characterized by the persistence of extremely high nighttime temperatures. In particular, Gaffen and Ross (1999) found that summer nighttime moisture levels increased by 2 - 4% per decade for every region of the contiguous U.S. between 1961 - 1995. Hot and humid conditions at night for a multi-day period are highly correlated with heat stress mortality during heat waves.

Not surprisingly, the frequency, intensity, and humidity of heat waves is expected to increase dramatically in coming decades, if the forecasts of a warmer world due to global warming come true. A study presented in the U.S. Global Change Program Impacts Report, 2009, predicted that by 2080 - 2099, a heat wave that has a 1-in-20 chance of occurring in today's climate will occur every 2 - 3 years over 95% of the contiguous U.S. (Figure 3.) I estimate that this week's U.S. heat wave has been a 1-in-5 to 1-in-20 year event for most locations affected, so heat waves like this week's will be a routine occurrence, nearly every year, by the end of the century. According to a study published by scientists at Stanford University last month, though, this may be too optimistic. In their press release, lead author Noah Diffenbaugh said, "According to our projections, large areas of the globe are likely to warm up so quickly that, by the middle of this century, even the coolest summers will be hotter than the hottest summers of the past 50 years."

The Arctic passages are opening up to shipping for the first time in our history. Ships can now sail right on through without the need for an icebreaker. It is one of the insane and contra-factual myths of the denier cult retards that nothing has changed in the Arctic. For several centuries explorers tried to find the fabled 'Northwest Passage' but couldn't. Here's the historical tidbit that has ol' poopbrain so befuddled. Only an idiot would think that this is the "same thing" as what is happening today.

Roald Amundsen - Northwest Passage (1903–1906)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In 1903, Amundsen led the first expedition to successfully traverse Canada's Northwest Passage between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans (something explorers had been attempting since the days of Christopher Columbus, John Cabot, Jacques Cartier, and Henry Hudson), with six others in a 45-ton fishing vessel, Gjøa. Amundsen had the ship outfitted with a small gasoline engine.[6] They travelled via Baffin Bay, Lancaster and Peel Sounds, and James Ross, Simpson and Rae Straits and spent two winters near King William Island in what is today Gjoa Haven, Nunavut, Canada.[5][6]

During this time Amundsen learned from the local Netsilik people about Arctic survival skills that would later prove useful. For example, he learned to use sled dogs and to wear animal skins in lieu of heavy, woolen parkas. After a third winter trapped in the ice, Amundsen was able to navigate a passage into the Beaufort Sea after which he cleared into the Bering Strait, thus having successfully navigated the Northwest Passage.[4] Continuing to the south of Victoria Island, the ship cleared the Canadian Arctic Archipelago on 17 August 1905, but had to stop for the winter before going on to Nome on the Alaska District's Pacific coast. Five hundred miles (800 km) away, Eagle City, Alaska, had a telegraph station; Amundsen travelled there (and back) overland to wire a success message (collect) on 5 December 1905. Nome was reached in 1906. Because the water along the route was as shallow as 3 ft (0.91 m), a larger ship could not have made the voyage.
