New Little Ice Age

Finder, this is from the site you posted. Note on the graph, as of Jan09, the oceans, globally, were warmer than they have been before about 2002.

And this summer and fall, they were warmer than at any point on the graph. So the coldest the oceans were in the last seven years, they were far warmer than at any point prior to that.

But you seem to think that the minor variations in that represent a cooling trend?

Where in the hell did you ever learn to read graphs at?

This is the site you claim supports your arguement that the oceans are cooling. Look at the graph I posted by itself from the site, then look at all the other graphs. All but one show long term warming, that the cooling that you refer to represents exactly the natural variations that is seen in the graph in prior decades.

The graphs clearly show a cooling and that in perfect timing with the solar minimum.
The former warming coincided with greater than typical solar flare activity.
That is over..
The ice is expanding.
The oceans are cooling.
The earth is cooling.
All this flies in the face of the models and predictions of Hansen and the IPCC. The very same models they have been using to state that we have global warming.

Also all ocean data before 2003 is suspect as they had no scientific discipline applied until they launched the Argo bouys.

What is it with you people?

Of course the sun can alter our climate.

Likewise, man's activities can alter our climate.

Volcanos can alter our climate.

All kinds of things natural or manmade can screw it up.

Don't you people read anything but right-leaning blogs?

Sorry dude but you jumping to conclusions and hasty judgementalism does not this Independent peg. I go with the issues as I see them. I am just as hard on greed mongering hedge fund managers, oil speculators and all those who rob from the poor as I am on Global Warming nuts who are also attempting to rob from the poor.

Finder, the graph ended in Jan09. This summer and fall the overall global ocean temperature was hotter than it has ever been before.

NOAA: Earth's oceans warmest ever this summer

Let the global warming debate continue, as the world’s oceans heated to record levels in August and over the summer, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Here, in part, is a NOAA press release distributed today:

The world’s ocean surface temperature was the warmest for any August on record, and the warmest on record averaged for any June-August (Northern Hemisphere summer/Southern Hemisphere winter) season according to NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, N.C. The preliminary analysis is based on records dating back to 1880.

NCDC scientists also reported that the combined average global land and ocean surface temperature for August was second warmest on record, behind 1998.

For the June-August 2009 season, the combined global land and ocean surface temperature was third warmest on record.

Global Highlights – Summer:

The June-August worldwide ocean surface temperature was also the warmest on record at 62.5 degrees, 1.04 degrees above the 20th century average of 61.5 degrees.

The combined global land and ocean average surface temperature for the June-August season was 61.2 degrees, which is the third warmest on record and 1.06 degrees above the 20th century average of 60.1 degrees.

Now how does that set with your cooling ocean bullshit?

Hey old crock, more lies, how about the false data of Hansens you willing posted or how you posted a false story about the power output of windmills, you know the one where you said oregon can supply all of seattle and portland from one wind farm. I followed your link and there is no information in the link. So whats up, is this all you do, post false information.

Old Crock is a simply political propagandist, most likely marxist in idealogy, hence old crocks desire to have the tax payers pay extremely high electrical bills and old crocks desire to have tax money taken from the middle class to pay for inefficient wind farms and solar farms.

What a bunch of morons, the salt levels in the ocean are the same as they were 10,000 years ago.

Care to post a link to this false claim?

I've debated the climate change issue for years with many people including some of you here, and what I have come to believe is that the alarmists who support the "green agenda" which is nothing more than a marketing scheme to replace one set of technologies with another and method to create a need for a marketplace where none exists and if it cannot be created it will be legislated into existance to support that marketing scheme.

Having said that, there are a number ot technologies that will not effect the environment in such a negative way and the promotion of those technologies can only be seen as a positive thing for this nation for many reasons. One is taken as PART of an energy solution and not the ENTIRE energy solotuon solar, wind, along with nuclear, and dare I say it safe, domestic fossil fuel production can finally end this nations need to pay middle eastern nations blackmail money that they funnel to fund terrorists operations worldwide and sometime even against the United States as well. As for for the overall agenda of the so called "green" movement if they spent less time worrying about what their neighbors were doing to save the planet and more time worry about what they were doing then perhaps they might take a moment to pause and finally work in a resonable manner and help promote all these technologies that will be of benefit to everyone rather than tryin to stuff them down peoples throats all in the name of science that is not settled that is of course unless your Al Gore. or the IPCC , but you are aware that the IPCC is not made up of just scientists correct?

So once again, when the "green" community can be reasonable and recognize that their agenda is not the only path that people should follow, then they will find more people willing to accept things such as shutting off water to farmers at the cost of 40 thousand jobs all in the name of a minnow.

The real falacy in all of this agenda is this, no matter how much you legislate and force people to "GO GREEN" the worlds 2 largest populations could care less about your agenda and recently one of the surpassed the US in coal plant emissions, so what you will really succeed in doing without trying to make an effort in working with those who may not agree with your agenda 100% is making nations like ours and others fall into 3rd world status even more rapidly than we already are. One thing though or future generations of blanket makers, and candy sellers on the side of the road for Chinese tourists can thank the "green movement" for though, is they will be selling their trinkets to these tourists in "green environment" . I wonder though, which one they would have preferred, one where we all came together to find common solutions or one where we shot ourselves in the foot because one side demonized the other?

China now produces more solar, and more wind turbines than any other nation. They are the leading producer of Lithium batteries. They have the only clean coal plant in actual production. If this trend continues, we will be selling trinkets beside the road to Chinese tourists as they tour the late world super power, now bankrupt.

There are people working quietly on new technologies here in the US, but not getting the support that their efforts warrant. Without developing new technologies, and manufacturing them here, we will achieve third world status rather sooner than later. One example of a possible technological innovation that could make the current energy producers, fossil fuel and alternative moot, it being worked on at the University of Missouri Columbia right now.

Well, mdn2000, are you trying to prove your ignorance in all areas? The rapid cooling of the Younger Dryas was created by the Gulf Current being turned off by the rapid influx of fresh water from North America.

Geochemical proxies of North American freshwater routing during the Younger Dryas cold event
Author: Carlson, Anders E.; Clark, Peter U.; Haley, Brian A.; Klinkhammer, Gary P.; Simmons, Kathleen; Brook, Edward J.; Meissner, Katrin J.
Abstract: The Younger Dryas cold interval represents a time when much of the Northern Hemisphere cooled from ~12.9 to 11.5 kiloyears before present. The cause of this event, which has long been viewed as the canonical example of abrupt climate change, was initially attributed to the routing of freshwater to the St. Lawrence River with an attendant reduction in Atlantic meridional overturning circulation. However, this mechanism has recently been questioned because current proxies and dating techniques have been unable to confirm that eastward routing with an increase in freshwater flux occurred during the Younger Dryas. Here we use new geochemical proxies (ΔMg/Ca, U/Ca & 87Sr/86Sr) measured in planktonic foraminifera at the mouth of the St. Lawrence Estuary as tracers of freshwater sources to further evaluate this question. Our proxies, combined with planktonic δ18Oseawater and δ13C, confirm that routing of runoff from western Canada to the St. Lawrence River occurred at the start of the Younger Dryas, with an attendant increase in freshwater flux of 0.06 ± 0.02 Sverdrup (1 Sverdrup (Sv) = 106 m3 s-1). This base discharge increase is sufficient to have reduced Atlantic meridional overturning circulation and caused the Younger Dryas cold interval. In addition, our data indicate subsequent fluctuations in the freshwater flux to the St. Lawrence River of ~0.06 to 0.12 Sv, thus explaining the variability in the overturning circulation and climate during the Younger Dryas.
