Except they don't have the RIGHT to re-define the term "marriage" since they aren't male/female couples, any more than a cat has a RIGHT to re-define the term of "canine" so that it includes "felines".

Marriage is marriage. The rights of Americans should include the rights of ALL Americans. As the Muslim hate winds down somewhat, the gay marriage hate increases. Forget DOMA, pass DOAC instead. (Defense of American Citizens.) I got criticized for posting this previously, but Florida denied the right to adopt children on the basis of sexual orientation until 2010. An archaic conflict of laws; foster children could be raised by gay citizens, and gay Floridians could be Guardians of minors. But gay Floridians could not adopt. Some could "define" marriage as MISERY, others as nirvana; seek not definitions, fight for equality.

Homosexuals can have a religious marriage ceremony by any religious organization willing to perform the ceremony. It's already been happening for decades in every state in America.

The fight for marriage equality concerns getting the federal and state governments to recognize these marriages and extend the same benefits to gay couples as they do straight couples.

It's really as simple as that. People keep thinking religion and redefining marriage has something to do with this fight for equality when really it has nothing to do with it all.
