That reminds me. This isn't really related to the thread, but I was listening to Homecoming by Kanye last night and I realized that there's not any snare in that song... and I've been listening to that song for like three years

The hit on the beat comes from this kick with some big echo. Cool stuff.

Yeah there doesn't have to be the regular kick/snare pattern to make a good track.

In "The Re-Up" with Em and 50, instead of a snare it's actually a recording of what sounds like 50 saying "chuck". I thought that was pretty tight.
