New Crazy as Usual NRA Ad

What if they're wearing body armor like the shooter in CO? How many teachers trained on the fly how to shoot a weapon are going to be able to hit an 8 inch by 8 inch target from more than 30 feet away?

If they practice at the gun range for an hour each semester, all of them should be able to do it.

Four hours a year? Yeah, that should just about do it.

Yep. Pulling a trigger and pointing at a target are skills that even you can master.

Anyone can point a gun and pull the trigger.

It takes lots of practice to be able to hit dead center mass in a nice tight group on a consistent basis.

Like I said, when I was a member of the Security Force while stationed in Newport RI, there were several team members who weren't able to qualify for either marksman or sharpshooter (I was Sharpshooter qualified), and we practiced a full day once a month.

Trained. Trained. Trained. Trained. Luddly shows that the people who protect the President are the best. Anyone of those guys, and gals, could probably drop a person at 75 feet in less time than it takes you to get out your wallet for the NRA. Does anyone actually believe that a school without enough money for books is going to get a well trained guard?

They don't need anyone trained that well. Someone committing a mass shooting will much closer than 75 feet, and they'll have plenty of time to aim.

Yeah.............look how well it worked out in AZ when Gabby Gifford was shot. The gunman (Laughtner) wasn't taken out by the dude with a CC liscence (who almost shot the wrong person), he was taken out by unarmed people when he stopped to reload.

You're posting fiction. Here's the account of events from Wiki:

2011 Tucson shooting - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The gunman was tackled to the ground by 74-year-old retired US Army Colonel Bill Badger,[26] who had been shot himself, and was further subdued by Maisch and bystanders Roger Sulzgeber and Joseph Zamudio. Zamudio was a CCW holder and had a weapon on his person, but arrived after the shooting had stopped and did not use the firearm to engage or threaten the gunman.[27]

He never fired a shot, and Loughner was already being wrestled to the ground.

If he'd only had 10 rounds/magazine, how many lives would have been saved if he had to reload after only 15-20 shots (he had 2 guns)?

according to Wiki, he only fired 15 to 20 shots, so the answer is "none."

Sorry, but I don't think it takes that much practice. I once went to a gun range with a friend of mine who was a former member of the secret service. My accuracy on every target was better than his. He really got mad when he saw that.

So much for needing thousands of hours of training.

Are the President's kids more important, it asks? What total rubbish. No, they are not but they are highly visible and not protecting them would create a potential national security risk if kidnapped or something putting pressure on the President to do something he might otherwise NOT do. How dumb F can you get? It is a totally nonsense, garbage analogy they are trying to spew and of course most gun nuts will latch onto that!

i agree the analogy is not good. however, don't you find it odd that obama has no problem arming people to protect his school age children, but not supporting others do so?

Oh please. So should the president take the subway since some have to? Should he clean the white house toilets? Do you know who...as a president....has had the Most death threats in this countries history?

Only 15 to 20 shots? Really?

The attack

On January 8, 2011, at 7:04 a.m. MST, Loughner went to a Walmart store in the Foothills Mall to purchase ammunition, but left that store and completed his purchase at a Walmart on North Cortaro Road at 7:28 a.m.[33][60] He was stopped by an Arizona Game and Fish Department officer at 7:34 a.m. for running a red light, but once the officer determined there were no outstanding warrants for Loughner, he was allowed to proceed to his destination with a warning to drive carefully.[16][33] Loughner took a taxi to a Safeway supermarket location in Casas Adobes, where Rep. Giffords was holding a constituents meeting.[33][61] The shooting occurred at 10:10 a.m. MST.[62][63]

Loughner opened fire on Giffords from close range, as well as numerous bystanders,[62][63][64] killing six people. Thirteen other people were injured by gunfire, and one person was injured while fleeing the scene of the shooting.[65] Giffords, the apparent target of the attack,[3] was shot in the head and critically injured.[66]

Jared Lee Loughner - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

6 people killed, 13 people injured by gunfire, and one injured fleeing the scene.

At a minimum, that's 20 shots (unless of course, you're using GOP math).

You know, I much prefer what they're doing down in San Antonio right now. Instead of giving teachers guns, they are training them in self defense and how to bring down attackers WITHOUT having to use a gun.

That worked in Tucson (unarmed, middle aged woman while an armed young guy hid out in the Walgreen's).

Well here it is.

This is the screwiest post I've seen on the subject.

Don't bother to train them. Just teach them to hit the broad side of a barn.

Never mind that the gun and ammo is locked up and will take several minutes to access. Never mind that the teacher is way out-gunned. For that matter, thanks to the gun nuts' insisting that crooks, illegals, drug cartels, terrorists all be able to buy anything they want, they also out-gun the cops.

Sheesh. Do you people ever think?

Ask the NRA if the lives of innocent children are less important than someone's right to carry a gun.

Excellent point. Amazingly, the nutters want to arm teachers.

The real thing practices and has to re-qualify over and over. Teachers with guns? STOOOOIP. Beyond stupid.

I hate to think of the kid who gets the key and gets into the locked gun closet. How about the teacher faced with a 30 round clip mowing her classroom down (including her) while she fumbles for the key to the closet, the key to the ammo, gets inn to the closet, gets the gun, unlocks the ammo, get the ammo, fumbles in her terror to get the gun loaded.

Shit.

We would be at her funeral LONG before she got a gun loaded.

I marvel at the incredible idiocy of liberal turds. The suggestion is for a few of the teachers to get concealed carry permits. They would also have to undertake regular training, like practice at a gun range once a semester. Only a liberal turd would conceive of keeping the guns in a gun locker.

I'll bet every teacher who as at Sandy Hook was wishing they had a gun.

Not to mention that there is no way the nutters can guarantee the gun would be anywhere near the shooter.

These idiots are incapable of logic or practical thought. All they can do is buy more guns.

ROFL! How many seconds would it take an armed teacher to cross from one end of en elementary school to another? If 5 teachers in the school were armed, it is guaranteed that one would be only seconds away from wherever the shooting started.

That's what you call "practical thought" and "logic?"

Hmmm ... How long .... ?

Well, the shooter in Sandy Hook emptied out his high capacity magazine, including 11 hits to one little boy. How long does that take?

The shooter in CO emptied his magazine in only a few seconds.

Its idiocy to think that teachers are going to carry gun concealed on their person. Utter and total idiocy.

You may as well get some of Arpaio's pedophiles to sit in their cars with their coats over their laps.

Is the First Amendment more important than the lives of children?

If you go back and read the events as they happened, you'll find that the armed man did not come forward until long afterwards and then his story was so full of holes, it was apparent he was lying. At the scene and in all accounts shortly after, he stated he was inside the Walgreen's where he had gone to buy cigarettes.

The woman who disarmed Laughner while he was trying to reload was not armed and is middle aged.

If the principal had a gun, that would never have happened, would it?

Not at all. Perhaps idiots of your ilk can't be trusted with them, but plenty of teachers are hunters or ex military. They are perfectly competent to carry a firearm. There are a million people walking around in Florida with a concealed weapon. The catastrophe you fear hasn't happened.

You may as well get some of Arpaio's pedophiles to sit in their cars with their coats over their laps.

What does Sheriff Arpaio have to do with anything?

If the principal had a gun, that would never have happened, would it? She'd already be dead or hiding under his/her desk. Actually, if the teachers at Sandy Hook are any indication, the principal would also lay down his/her life.

Jezus fucking christ. WHAT do you call what those kids and teachers went through? According you, it was just another day at grade school.

You may as well get some of Arpaio's pedophiles to sit in their cars with their coats over their laps.

What does Sheriff Arpaio have to do with anything?
Arpaio has a slew of volunteers surrounding grade schools. Many have criminal records, including child molesters. Exactly what one would expect from that old KKK scumbag. When I posted about pedophiles surrounding grade schools, not surprisingly, the usual fools started making the usual excuses.

Are all other children threatened daily?
Are all other children's parents threatened every day?

Would the nutters be asking these really stupid questions if it were the Bush daughters? Of course not. Allow me to remind you all - Obama won the election and we protect our president and his family.

Fucking deal with it.

While we're talking about the REAL world, the Secret Service that protects them didn't take a one hour training course every few months like what you nutters are suggesting for teachers.
