New $20

The real reason Trump won't put Harriet Tubman on $20 bill (opinion) - CNN

The real reason is because he is an aggressive, committed racist. Everybody knows that. But there is a more compelling reason not to make the change.

No self respecting southern white person would carry those $20's. All they would accept are $10's. Which means the treasury would have to spend a fortune printing more $10's. Not worth it.
oh wow what an original thought, a left winger calling someone a racist

An opinion piece by a racist. Lol

They need to know how they are chosen-
Why were certain individuals chosen to be pictured on our paper currency?
As with our nation's coinage, the Secretary of the Treasury usually selects the designs shown on United States currency. Unless specified by an Act of Congress, the Secretary generally has the final approval. This is done with the advice of Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) officials.

The law prohibits portraits of living persons from appearing on Government Securities. Therefore, the portraits on our currency notes are of deceased persons whose places in history the American people know well.

The basic face and back designs of all denominations of our paper currency in circulation today were selected in 1928, although they were modified to improve security against counterfeiting starting in 1996. A committee appointed to study such matters made those choices. The only exception is the reverse design of the one-dollar bill. Unfortunately, however, our records do not suggest why certain Presidents and statesmen were chosen for specific denominations.

Here's a solution. Leave the Civil War statues alone and give Harriet Tubman her own statue somewhere. It will be cheaper and we wouldn't have to look at her picture every day.

Want to know a fun experiment ?
Put MindWars on ignore then check out the contents of the conspiracy theory board - it's like 2 or 3 threads by other members ( out of 20 per page) and all the rest are his. Fucking ridiculous.
I reported it once because there should be a reasonable limit at some point, but
apparently I'm the only one who gives a shit.

Here are the real facts that came out before Trump was elected-

It Could Be a Decade Before You Hold a Harriet Tubman $20 Bill In Your Hand
The problem is the slow pace at which the U.S. government typically moves to adopt change, according to Wired. In a letter posted on Medium, Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew said the Bureau of Engraving and Printing will unveil new looks for the $5, $10 and $20 bills in 2020 in honor of the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage.

The new bills won’t go into circulation then, however; they’ll merely be shown to the public. It could take many more years to pass before the average American has a wallet full of Harriet Tubman $20s.

The hold-up is in part due to security concerns: The blue anti-counterfeit strip on the $100 bill took 15 years to develop. The Treasury is also committed to making the new bills more accessible for the visually impaired, meaning that they may have to develop new texture details. In true vague government fashion, a Treasury spokesperson said it’s impossible to predict when the new bills will be ready.

I get so sick of this crap, blaming Trump for everything.
By the way, it is another cnn article that stated it would be at least a decade before it happens.
By the way? Lew was Obama’s treasury secretary.

Won't ever happen. The fascist left won't stop until they get EXACTLY what they want. They're going to destroy all the statures of people from before the Civil war, including the destruction of the Lincoln memorial. Whether Harriet Tubman is on the $20 bill or not.

In my opinion, Harriet Tubman is too mundane to be put on a bill. Douglas MacArthur has done more for this country than Harriet Tubman, and even I wouldn't suggest his portrait for our currency. MLK is the one for the $20 -- Straight up.
