Nevadans Will Have An Opportunity To Vote To Close The "Gunshow Loophole"

There have been 127 murders so far this year in Las Vegas. 72% of those murders involved guns.

Murder rate rising | 127 people killed, suspects getting younger

Because police are backing off because of the democrats and their allies, black lies matter. Every year till 2015 the gun murder rate went down...then Ferguson happened and cops decided they will only respond when called.......

the fact is we had 200 million guns in private hands in 2 the 1990s and about 1.2 million people carrying guns for self defense....in 2016 we have 357 million guns in private hands and almost 15 million people carrying guns for self defense...and the gun murder rate went down 49%...

Guns in the hands of law abiding people does not drive the gun murder rate......letting criminals walk the streets drives the gun murder rate...

90% of gun murderers already have criminal convictions which means they are already banned from buying, owning or carrying guns....

Guns in the hands of law abiding people does not increase the gun murder rate....

You say that like it makes, or reinforces, some relevant point.

Of course it's relevant, dipshit. The murder rate is increasing here in Vegas, it's already a 30% increase over this same time last year. Even more alarming is that the killers are getting younger.

The reason is because of obama, the democrats and black lives matter.......our gun crime rate went down 49% as more people bought, owned and carried guns......now, since Ferguson and the police not doing proactive policiing, the murder and crime rate in democrat controlled cities is skyrocketing....

Here in Illinois a police woman refused to use her gun against a drugged out attacker...she is now in the hospital .....she tole the watch commander she didn't use her weapon, though the guy was physically beating her because she didn't want to cause a problem for her family or her department.........

Cops are pulling back.......

So..the elected cops in Nevada....don't support this dumb idea....

12 of 16 sheriffs in Maine oppose background check ballot measure

In Nevada, 16 out of 17 sheriffs came out against Question 1, an Everytown-backed background check expansion with only Joe Lombardo, sheriff of Clark County and head of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, vowing to remain neutral.

You have no idea why your response is irrelevant to what he said.

Then this is a Vegas issue and the rest of the state is doing well. Then why impose the law on the whole state when the problem is confined in a small area.

Because left wing totalitarians can't think in any way that would diminish the power of the central government....

Because the state cannot have a monopoly on force when the people retain their arms.

The Background Check Initiative is a common-sense proposal that will close loopholes in Nevada law that make it all too easy for felons, domestic abusers, and the dangerously mentally ill to buy guns. We have the right to bear arms, but with rights come responsibilities. The Background Check Initiative will improve public safety in Nevada by requiring background checks for all gun sales, with reasonable exceptions for family, hunting, and self-defense.

Myth
Nevada already requires background checks for gun sales, so we don't need any new laws.

Fact
Under current law, background checks are only required for gun sales at licensed dealers. Millions of guns change hands each year between unlicensed buyers and sellers, including strangers who meet online or at gun shows -- no background check required, no questions asked. (Philip J. Cook & Jens Ludwig, Guns in America, 1996, available at http://safenevada.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Cook-Ludwig-Guns-in-America-1997.pdf)

Myth
Background checks don't work because criminals will break the law and get guns anyway.

Fact
In 2013 alone, background checks at licensed gun dealers in Nevada stopped 1,904 gun sales to prohibited people -- including 501 to felons and 374 to people convicted of domestic violence misdemeanors or subject to domestic violence protection orders. Closing loopholes in the background check law will make it even harder for criminals and other dangerous people to buy guns. (Everytown for Gun Safety analysis of FBI data, February 12, 2014.)

Background checks don't work because criminals will break the law and get guns anyway.

Fact

90% of all murder is committed by criminals with prior felony convictions, often more than one....they cannot buy, own or carry a gun.....yet of the 9,616 gun murders....the convicted felons who commit them did not pass a background check...and still got the gun.......

You still haven't explained how any of these new measures stop criminals or mass shooters from getting guns.......still waiting....
