JERUSALEM (AFP) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called UN chief Ban Ki-moon on Friday and asked him to stop an international flotilla of ships seeking to break Israel's Gaza blockade, Netanyahu's office said.

The May sailing of about 15 ships with activists from 25 countries on board is intended to mark the first anniversary of an Israeli commando raid against a similar, but smaller, convoy that killed nine Turkish activists, organisers have said.

And Israel will give itself a big black eye like it did last time.

The flotillas are a lose/lose situation for Israel. They are an excellent idea.

How about Israel starts to comply with UN resolutions before they start asking for favors?

After arabs dissed the resolution 181, thumping UN resolutions has become a useless occupation, of course.

Resolution 181 was dead in the water. It was still born. The Security Council never attempted to implement it.

Resolution 181 was dead in the water. It was still born. The Security Council never attempted to implement it.
The resolution was adopted on Nov. 29, 1947. The UNSCOP reported to the Security Council on Feb. 16, 1948:
"Powerful Arab interests, both inside and outside Palestine, are defying the resolution of the General Assembly and are engaged in a deliberate effort to alter by force the settlement envisaged therein."
That's it, arabs wanted to wipe jews off the map and plunder the jovish property and in the process got their asses stomped; and one country came into being, while the other one didn't, because the very people (arabs) it was meant for, were interested in plundering the first one, than having a state.

So? That was their right to do so.

BTW, when did the Palestinians lose a war with Israel?

Indeed, plundering someone else's property is an arab occupation.

GAZA, (PIC)-- The international campaign to break the Gaza siege has called on UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to see that the Freedom Flotilla 2 lands safely in the Gaza Strip at its due date of arrival in May.

The statement comes after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on Ki-moon to help thwart the humanitarian aid mission.

The international campaign argued in a press release on Saturday that the flotilla is set to carry out a humanitarian task which should be protected under international law.

The practices and repeated attacks of the Israeli occupation authorities and continued siege of the Gaza Strip for nearly four years pose a blatant violation of international treaties and conventions, the statement says.

The second flotilla is scheduled to be larger than the first and will include more than 15 ships and hundreds of activists, among them parliamentarians, independent figures, and civil society representatives.

Reads like advocating Israel does something to see, if they can swim.
