Neil Armstrong Dies at 82

I met Neil and have a book signed by him.
Seemed to be a nice guy.

You are lucky; at some point, as I recall, it was After 1994 he refused all requests for autographs because he found that his signed items were selling for large amounts of money and that many forgeries got in circulation; any requests sent to him received a form letter in reply saying that he stopped signing.

A shame.

RIP.

Men like this helped push the boundaries of science as we "knew" it.

He is probably punching the face of angels that said the moon landing was a fake right now.

A true American hero. Rest in peace and condolences to his family and friends.

Every time I see one of those Mercury, Gemini, or Apollo capsules in a museum I marvel at the courage all those guys had to get in them atop what could have been a giant bomb at any time, not to mention all the other hazards they faced on every mission. God bless them all.

Comments have been coming in from all over the world, except from obama. He'll get around to it, between campaign stops.

What exactly can Obama say about a man (Neil Armstrong) who possessed everything that Obama doesn't have?

President Nixon had a speech prepared - in case the rocket booster to lift Armstrong and Aldrin off of the moon failed.

And there would only be one try.

Not like starting up a car.

The fake-moon landing people owe tha family of Neil Armstrong an apology.

I delivered newspapers the day after the first moon landing.

(but before the risky launch from the moon)

Neil Armstrong was a paradox.

A gifted pilot, engineer and astronaut. Like all Apollo astronauts, he was the best of the best. The definition of The Right Stuff

But Neil was poorly suited for the notoriety of being the first man on the moon. After his return, the world wanted to hear what it was like to be the first to step on the moon. Neil shunned publicity and avoided interviews. NASA needed him to be front and center as the face of the space program and Neil wanted no part of it
