With revelations yesterday the government's using a $2 billion surveillance blimp for domestic monitoring, think threads covering such government surveillance would ba good idea.

Have the government healthcare one, how about government surveillance. :)

You going on the record against government surveillance?

I got people that want to know.

Not for or against it completely. If it's truly about monitoring airspace against foreign threats fine. But this didn't seem to be about that since it was for local monitoring. Not pointed out across the Atlantic or something.

Good idea. I mean let's face it most experienced posters are at least subconsciously aware or acknowledge the fact that certain words in an innocent post would invite government surveillance. If you don't understand it you need to be aware of it. The old concept of Big Brother has graduated to the crazy uncle who is way beyond reading your mail.

Maybe I'm weird but domestic surveillance by the Feds doesn't bother me. If the government wants to read my emails go ahead. Tap my phone go ahead. If it helps catch bad guys, then it's worth it. Now if I see a drone hovering outside my window it might meet an unfortunate end, but feel free to keep sending them.

Funny, it used to bother people. Maybe it's like the frog in the warm water or maybe our taxpayer dollars are promoting and paying for pro-government posts. It isn't paranoia if they are really out to get you and you could consider the Orwellian philosophy of how long it took otherwise healthy Americans to loose their fear of government ant trust the bureaucracy to do the right thing.

I'm just speaking for myself, I know it's a very important issue for a lot of people on the Left and the Right. The much larger issues are the wrong policies and laws getting passed that end up screwing us up and growing into insatiable monsters i.e. Obamacare.

There are key words that send up red flags to government. And in truth you can't really say anything about government WITHOUT raising those flags.

But some incidents like that "Rusty H" event tend to draw pin points directly to boards.
You can find a list of 377 words here..
Uncle Sam admits monitoring you for these 377 words:

Back in the day on my old board we used to post the hell out of key words just for the lulz and to see how many government-type IPs showed up on our guest list. Good times.

If you have nothing to hide, it won't bother you. And like you, it doesn't bother me either.

Dayum! This place is crawling with the feds then, cuz that's a mighty big list and most of what's on it is said here on a daily basis!

Regarding the keyword list...
I'd imagine that the signal/noise ratio of results generated by that list is pretty poor.
Since probably half of the words on that list have other, totally benign meanings associated with them, the number of false-positives is likely astronomical,
Add in the results that occur due to common news reports as well as those that purposefully bait the feds, it gets even worse... I'm surprised that their supercomputers don't choke on the sheer volume of data, let alone find anything useful in it.
