9 1/2 years in the Nuclear Navy on a Nuclear sub. While I didn't work in the plant, I broke bread with the people that did.

Of course, given the downside potential of these plants, chicken little seems to be the sensible way to go.

If you add up all the deaths from nuclear power, you still come up short from the yearly deaths from mining or drilling.

Of course on article from some no name webpage trumps a lack of reporting from the regular media, as well as the situation report from the plant owner.

Your post is nothing but typical paranoid conspiracy nut drivel. No facts, no details, no link to any regulatory agency's press release.

It still takes alot to go wrong at one of these plants for the worst case scenario to happen.

For TMI, it took shoddy procedures and people doing the wrong thing for a day, and the containment system still held.

A fukashima its starting to appear they have a major issue inside the plant, the majority of the radiation has been contained inside the containments. There was a release but it appears to be mostly short term radionulceotides. To get this a 40 ft high wall of water had to hit the plant.


At chernobyl it was a combination of bad design, poor procedures, and general soviet incompetance that resulted in the reactor blowing. Remember the worst of the radiation was caused by core/fuel pieces being phyisically flung out of the reactor, along with a graphite fire that spread core/fuel/graphite pieces throught a large area. These large peices are the ones that contain the long lasting nucleotides, and hence the major risk.

Um no, it cannot.

The main cause of raiation in japan was from the release of gases to releive pressure, coupled with a meltdown of 3 of the reactors. Here the reactors are OFF.

and from what I have read (cant find link for some reason) the measures taken and the notice to the NRCB was due to a 2 degree increase in the cooling pool.

Just notification, no alerts, no warnings, no evacuations. Just procedure.

yup, but keep in mind it's the very same GE mark 5 reactor as f*ckoshima, the very same one that GE engineers quit in protest over, and the very same one the union od concernen scientists condemned

But the difference is the lack of a 40ft wall of water with less than an hours warning.

They are experiencing river flooding, something far more predictable.

Oh yeah, I forgot. THE REACTOR IS OFF.

Also since Fukishima every nuke plant has probably been going over thier facilities for the exact situation that hit Japan.
