NC Early Voting Epic turn out!

day3chart.jpg

The prevailing reason given for providing voters a chance to vote early is because low income voters have a hard time getting to the polls on Election Day since it is a work day.

If that is actually true, then low income voters will be disproportionately represented in early voting returns.

North Carolina is in the top ten states with the highest percentage of blacks. So Obama has a double whammy going for him there with early voters. Blacks vote mostly for Obama, as do poor people. And blacks are overrepresented in the ranks of the poor.

The turnout this year will be lower than the turnout was in 2008.

Well, new voter registration statistics have been released, and so now we have the evidence to back up that speculation. This is an over-generalization, but broadly Obama is indeed turning out new voters, whereas Romney is turning out the same old voters.

In total, 324,780 people voted in One-Stop Early Voting on Thursday and Friday. Of those, 42,709 were brand new previously unregistered voters. They did not pass any poll's "likely voter" screen, nor did they even pass any poll's registered voter screen. And yet, they voted. And it is clear that they voted overwhelmingly for Obama (probably by about 2 to 1).

Here's who those 42,709 brand new voters are:

Party Registration:

Democrats - 20,792 (48.7%)
Republicans - 8,699 (20.4%)
Libertarians - 604 (1.4%)
Unaffiliated - 12,614 (29.5%)

Race:

White - 19,041 (44.6%)
Black - 13,470 (31.5%)
American Indian - 510 (1.2%)
Hispanic - 2,706 (6.3%)
Other - 9,688 (22.7%)

Gender:

Male - 19,077 (47.0%)
Female - 20,055 (53.0%)

Total - 42,709 (100%)

Now why is this significant, you ask?

Because it means that Obama is adding to his final vote total in early voting, whereas Romney is just moving some of his votes from Election Day to now, without actually increasing the total number of votes he will receive by nearly as much as Obama.

That's the difference between finding $5 lying on the street, and moving $5 from your left pocket to your right pocket. Only the first transaction actually makes you richer.

Now, how do those 42,709 new voters look on a map?

In a word, very blue. This map shows the % of the 42,709 new voters in each county who registered Democratic, as a share of those who registered D or R (not counting Libertarian and Unaffiliated):

That's my state! Or at least it was.

I remember in 2008 NC was one of the last to announce who won. Obama had already won 270+ electoral votes. When NC was finally announce I sent out a huge Hurrah! to the Dem team. It seemed to not make any splash but I knew that was a year to remember. This might just be another. We laid a ground game that can turn out the vote like no other. :eusa_clap:

Big Grats NC. Take it all the way!

Have you heard how many of them are over 112 years old?

There are obviously verifiable vote fraud problems in North Carolina.
In 2010 those problems surfaced meaningfully as indicated in the below voter fraud post from an earlier Charlotte Conservative Examiner article:
Perhaps in an effort to promote North Carolina as one of the healthiest States in the Nation, this latest voter twist comes to us from Susan Myrick of the Civitas Institute in North Carolina--not to be confused with Rep. Sue Myrick of NC who is unrelated. In a radio interview with local WBT Anchor Tara Servatious, Susan reports that she has been keeping track of the number of votes in North Carolina of individuals over the age of 110 years and apparently we have quite a few, over 410 of the 110 year olds--to be exact-- actually voted via absentee ballot on October the 28th. Yes indeed, now it would appear that good ole NC has the market cornered on the Centenarian vote.
At latest count, Susan has garnered a total Absentee Ballot vote of over 2,660 people over the age of 110. Someone contact the Guiness Book and warm up the Ford, the Fountain of Youth exists and its right here in lovely NC. It's no wonder people are moving here in droves--maybe the use of tobacco isn't such a bad thing after all? But, on a more serious note, with all of the irregularities going on all over the place, we can now begin to wonder about a few things.
Apparently those ultra-healthy seniors over 110 have aged and are now astoundingly over 112 years old, and are still able to make it to the polls ahead of time."

Too funny...especially the old lady who said she voted and was going back to vote again! Woo hoo!

You mean to tell me a conservative writer for a website anyone can write for is screaming voter fraud? Looks legit.

Actually it was the Civitas Institute that initially wrote the report, genius. Prolly time to put the bong down and realize Obama isn't Superman. More like Handi-Man.

Large voter turnout generally favors Democrats.

'112-year-old voters' a result of change in data collection, not voter fraud | newsobserver.com projects

You want to discredit the really hard work and long hours of hundreds, if not thousands, of work by the Democratic volunteers and you want to discredit a single vote of a North Carolinian? Fuck Off! Southern man don't need you around anyhow.

It's OK... The bogus votes will simply get nullified in the court proceedings following the election.
