The oddity of the Holocaust was that the Nazi leadership felt completely justified in committing genocide, yet at some level knew that it was so horrible that it had to be kept secret.



Thus, irrational conflicting policies like distributing food, but on the other hand, not enough food.

Working the jews, because the labor was needed, yet not giving them enough food to be strong enough to work well, or long enough.


You can't make sense of their actions, because their actions did not make sense.
