Natural (Christian) Science versus Science - From Right Wing Christian Universities

The Christian teaching of science requires not only a good command of basic subject matter, but also the spiritual perception to discern truth from error in a great variety of contexts. As a prerequisite for this, the Christian teacher of science must be thoroughly grounded in the Word of God. Moreover, he must have firmly implanted in his mind a biblical framework of truth which serves as the touchstone for his decision making. True science will fit that framework; anything that fails to fit the biblical framework must be rejected as erroneous. The present discussion demonstrates the need for a distinctively Christian philosophy of science teaching and surveys the differences between Christian and secular science education.

Let me point out that this is where many of the Republican "scientists" come from. Republicans get very angry, worse than a shaken beehive when the PEW research poll is brought up showing that a measly 6% of scientists are Republican.

Republicans at the USMB gleefully point out (whether true or not) that the right is receiving many more degrees than those on the left. The question becomes, "But what is the quality of that education?"

A few areas of science not listed as available:

Evolution
Evolutionary biology
evolution of disease
geology
Plate tectonics
Evolution of star systems
Astronomy

How one "liberal" University describes a very small part of it's "science" program:

The theory of evolution provides a coherent explanation for all biological phenomena. All of the Faculty in the EEB Department pursue research interests to a greater or lesser extent connected to evolution. A core group of Faculty address evolutionary questions directly, at very different scales of biological organization, and they all use techniques of molecular biology to answer those questions.

------------------------------------------------------------

So if Republicans want to continue to insist that more than 6% of scientists are Republican, then good for them. But let it be known that what makes a "scientist" is generally more than the study of "natural science".

Is there a single sane person in this country that would want to go to a doctor that didn't believe in evolution?

KANSAS CITY, KS—As the debate over the teaching of evolution in public schools continues, a new controversy over the science curriculum arose Monday in this embattled Midwestern state. Scientists from the Evangelical Center For Faith-Based Reasoning are now asserting that the long-held "theory of gravity" is flawed, and they have responded to it with a new theory of Intelligent Falling.

The Onion? Really?

The Onion is an American news satire organization. It is an entertainment newspaper and a website featuring satirical articles reporting on international, national, and local news...
Derp is in the running for the Stupidest Human Being on the Internet award.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Hey, Derp, I'm a conservative Christian -- but I know the Onion isn't real news.

You think it is. You're an utter moron.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Oh, and don't even try to say you were testing us. You failed. :lol:

The problem is you can't tell the difference between Republican policy and satire. Too bad the point escaped you. Noah's flood? People shimmered into being from dirt? The "apple"? Strength in long hair?

Then you continue on to:

Iraq.

and so on....

I live in Chicago. You can get the Onion on any street corner. Not to mention that story is 6 years old. It's been linked on this site a dozen times. Everyone knows it's a joke. Except you, obviously.

Ask Rdean to link the information for his study that supposedly shows only 6 percent of ALL scientists are Republicans. You will discover that it was asked of one small group of something like 78 scientists and as I recall they were all in the same field.

Demonic Theory of Disease??????????????

KANSAS CITY, KS—As the debate over the teaching of evolution in public schools continues, a new controversy over the science curriculum arose Monday in this embattled Midwestern state. Scientists from the Evangelical Center For Faith-Based Reasoning are now asserting that the long-held "theory of gravity" is flawed, and they have responded to it with a new theory of Intelligent Falling.

Some evangelical physicists propose that Intelligent Falling provides an elegant solution to the central problem of modern physics.
"Anti-falling physicists have been theorizing for decades about the 'electromagnetic force,' the 'weak nuclear force,' the 'strong nuclear force,' and so-called 'force of gravity,'" Burdett said. "And they tilt their findings toward trying to unite them into one force. But readers of the Bible have already known for millennia what this one, unified force is: His name is Jesus."

You guys can accuse me of believing in the Onion all you want. But it doesn't change the fact that a measly 6% of scientists are Republican. Nor does it change the fact that so many right wing colleges teach "natural science" instead of "science".

That one fact proves why so few scientists are Republican. They can't even bear to teach science.
