TAMPA, Fla., March 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Free Enterprise Nation (FEN) today released the results of a national poll that shows strong support for Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker among Independent voters. The poll of voters outside of Wisconsin, taken from March 3rd to March 9th, included 500 Democrat, 500 Republican and 500 Independent voters.

FEN spokesman, Jim MacDougald stated that "This poll contradicts some of the other polls we've seen. According to our poll, 95% of Republicans agree with the Governor, and 92% of Democrats agree with the union. There is not much of a surprise there. But 66% of Independent voters agree with the Governor, and this group is what swings most elections."

The support for the Governor's position was even stronger when the question specifically addressed his plan to require teachers to pay 5.8% of their salary toward their pension and 12.6% of their health insurance costs, with 71% of all respondents saying that measure was fair.

When asked if it is good public policy to allow public sector workers to retire at age 55 or earlier, 61% of all voters said "no", and they were evenly divided when asked if public sector employees should be allowed to unionize with 48% against, 48% for, and 4% undecided.

National Poll Shows Support for Wisconsin Governor -- TAMPA, Fla., March 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --

Is it reasonable to be skeptical of a poll conducted by a group that advocates for the private sector, and is openly unfriendly to the public sector?

The Free Enterprise Nation's primary mission is to:
•Educate Americans as to the true costs of federal, state, and local governments that redistribute property from taxpayers to government employees and their allies. Educate taxpayers to make them more informed and responsible voters.
•Unify like-minded individuals and businesses to create an organization of strength and mass in order to advance the common cause of the preservation of our free enterprise economy.
•Advocate for the broad and common economic interests of the private sector using every means available, including advertising, appearances by spokespersons on television and radio, providing information to the press, and engaging lobbyists to support or oppose legislation at federal and state levels.

How about an election?

Is that unreasonable as well?

Looks like they teach the economic realities that liberoidals in the gubmint schools don't.

Good on them.

The nation doesn't elect Scott Walker. Wisconsin does.

nice poll, but it does jack squat in regards to Wisconsin. all that matters here are Wisconsin Voters.

Au Contraire...

There are Public Sector Unions in all of the states. All of them support the unreasonably high pay and benefits of a group that deserves them no more than the multitude paying taxes to support them on salaries far lower.

This is a water shed moment in American NATIONAL politics.

Ever since Reagan took on the Controllers and won, there is no example of a leader winning a dispute with a public sector union and losing the next election.

The only poll that matters on this topic will be conducted on the first Tuesday of November in 2012, about 18 months from now.

Just what the hell exactly has gotten into you lately?

nice try,but no.
national polls for local state problems are meaningless.

National polls for the feelings of people in a particular state are meaningless. National polls about the feelings of individuals elswhere that will soon face the same decisions as the good people of Wisconsin do mean something for the outcomes of those issues in those other states.

Whether you see this or understand this or not, this is a water shed moment in American NATIONAL politics.

I just don't think this is going to turn out well for Republicans in Wisconsin. One poll does not a groundswell of support make.

It's the voters in Wisconsin who matter for that tool governor now.

I seem to recall a bit of USMB rightwing 'skepticism' when the Daily Kos commissioned poll a couple weeks ago found:

LOL, a DailyKos poll. A beehive of lefties. You know fer sure THAT poll will be NON-PARTISAN. yeah right.

you see folks, polls ONLY mean something if they reflect the Liberals points of view.

The voters of Wisconsin elected this governor and replaced Democrat majorities in both houses with Republican majorities in both houses in the last election.

I don't know what each and every candidate ran on in every district, but the Governor campaigned on exactly what he is doing.

The next election will show whether or not the Wisconsin population wants to see their taxes increased to support the excessive benefits for the Public Sector Union employees or if they want to see the taxes stable and the efficiency of government increased.

Will the Wisconsin population vote to support a 42% higher wage rate, incredible benefits and pensions that are excessive by increasing their own taxes or will they vote to continue to pay taxes at the same rate?

Interesting debate. How would you vote?
