Oh you Nanny Staters, what will you come up with next?

When you head down to the beach for a little fun this summer, county officials want you to leave the pigskin at home.

The Board of Supervisors this week agreed to raise fines to up to $1,000 for anyone who throws a football or a Frisbee on any beach in Los Angeles County.

In passing the 37-page ordinance on Tuesday, officials sought to outline responsibilities for law enforcement and other public agencies while also providing clarification on beach-goer activities that could potentially disrupt or even injure the public.

The updated rules now prohibit “any person to cast, toss, throw, kick or roll” any object other than a beach ball or volleyball “upon or over any beach” between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Exceptions allow for ball-throwing in predesignated areas, when a person obtains a permit, or playing water polo “in or over the Pacific Ocean”.

Make sure you don't kick sand either. Take a good look at that new law. Beach ball and volleyball is okay WITH a permit. Your beach papers please.

Although, this state law is nothing like Manhattan Beach that has ordinances against running on the beach or the strand, using elastic bands to exercise on any beach or in any park. Running up and down the steps leading to the beach is against the law. Putting money in a parking meter for a car not your own is not only against the law, but it's subject to fine and a few days in jail.

Which is why people are leaving california in droves to go to more freedom loving states like Texas etc. I say let Cali do what it wants to, as long as we do not have to pay for it. Eventually everyone will see where that political mentality goes, straight down the shitter.

Yeah, Socialist/Nanny Staters are killing our nation. What the hell happened? How did they get so much power? Why do so many want this oppressive Nanny State? It's so crazy.

I WISH people were leaving CA in droves. Alas, the freeways are showing me that that is not the case.

Why would they pass such a restriction? Did they get sued by someone injured on a county beach by an errant football or frisbe?

Be that as it may, it is only in a single county. The voters put those folks in office and if they don't like it, vote someone in who will change the law.

So much for "random acts of kindness". We live in a sick world.

Goddam people of LA Country, don't they know they don't have the right to self govern? Not without consulting you first, at least. Fucking idiots.

Why did they do it? The fine is $1,000.00. That's why they did it. In Los Angeles and the West Side failing to run a red light is a $480.00 ticket. You have to stop two feet behind the line or the little camera in front of you goes off. Blink, you're it. Running the red light is an $800.00 ticket. When it comes to creating laws to make money, the sky is the limit.

Yeah, Socialist/Nanny Staters are killing our nation. What the hell happened? How did they get so much power? Why do so many want this oppressive Nanny State? It's so crazy.

In this example, it is not the nanny state killing the country it is the people who sue over getting hit with a football that are ruining this country.
The reason why they have to have these fines is due to liability reasons, of course you are too stupid to understand that. We give people free range to sue over getting hit with a football, we end up not being allowed to throw a football on the beach.

Partly true. The rest is to make money by fining people. If you take your little exerbands to the park to stretch them out no one is going to get hurt, but the city can make money off fines. Same with people running up and down the beach steps. It's to make money. Taxes have been taken as far as they can. Taxpayer revolts do not happen over fines.

Fucking nanny state. Telling us where we have to stop our cars! Unbelievable! Another example of the libtard march to destroy the Constitution.

You don't have to stop your car, of course you will probably get your ass hit, but whatever. then my tax dollars have to be spent to have someone pick up your brains off the pavement.

That's my PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY if I wanna drive recklessly and get hit, the NANNY STATE has NO CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT to FORCE me to drive safely.

Oh, and BTW, I have motorist liability insurance (which the nanny state FORCES me to have - but I would have it anyway because I'm personally responsible) - so that would cover cleanup.
