Name a national politician...

Is Ron Paul corrupt?

Granted I had to do some searching for this one, but IF this site is accurate one must say that Ron Paul is no Saint.

http://www.realchange.org/ronpaul.htm

"If you have ever been robbed by a black teen-aged male, you know how unbelievably fleet-footed they can be." - Ron Paul, 1992

"Given the inefficiencies of what D.C. laughingly calls the `criminal justice system,' I think we can safely assume that 95 percent of the black males in that city are semi-criminal or entirely criminal." - Ron Paul, 1992

"We don't think a child of 13 should be held responsible as a man of 23. That's true for most people, but black males age 13 who have been raised on the streets and who have joined criminal gangs are as big, strong, tough, scary and culpable as any adult and should be treated as such." - Ron Paul, 1992

"What else do we need to know about the political establishment than that it refuses to discuss the crimes that terrify Americans on grounds that doing so is racist? Why isn't that true of complex embezzling, which is 100 percent white and Asian?" - Ron Paul, 1992

Someone who knows his voting record better than I, might be able to state how his contributors have benefitted from his votes. Here is a list of leading contributors:

Is Ron Paul corrupt? I'd bet my life on it.

Immie

Having an opinion on blacks that differs from yours may be right or it may be wrong however it's not corrupt.

Read what I said about the quotes...

Granted I had to do some searching for this one, but IF this site is accurate one must say that Ron Paul is no Saint.

I also said later:

At the moment, I am considering Ron Paul as a potential close call, but, I really can't say because I don't know enough about his political life.

Ron Paul didn't write those racist articles, and his votes have benefitted his top 3 contributers in your list because he's trying to bring all the troops home to their families and friends.

What about Google, Microsoft, Verizon etc?

You are saying that Ron Paul never said those things? I emphasized "IF" because I do not vouch for the accuracy of the website. I don't know if he said those things or not.

I do not, however, believe that Ron Paul is without blemish in the world of politics.

Ron Paul doesn't dole out political favors to those that donate to his campaign. He believes if you donate to him then you must simply believe in his message.

I am saying that Ron Paul claims he did not write those racist remarks, and since they're opposed to practically everything he's ever said in his political career one could assume he's telling the truth.

He's not, those racist articles you brought up are clearly a blemish on his political career whether he wrote them or not.

Paul made the mistake of allowing the person who wrote them to be associated with him.

I dont think Paul would talk like that.

I dont agree with Ron Paul on many things but I do think he is a good man.

Unfortunately, a politician has to put up with people using his/her name to smear him/her. I personally have never heard Ron Paul say anything like those quotes, but that does not mean that he did.

I'll take your word for it that he did not say them, but I still think you hold him too high on a pedestool.

And, as a further note, the fact that he may not dole out political favors, may be a clear indication why he is such an obscure politician that will probably never have a shot at really making it in politics.

Basically, that has been my point in this thread, in order to make it in politics, you had better be willing to toss out your principles.

You asked for a politician that hasn't thrown out their principles, and Ron Paul is possibly the only one.

I don't know. Morally corrupt, philosophically corrupt, intellectually corrupt? Know one will find me defending the Congress, but, even though I do not agree in all instances with Sen Bayh of Indiana, against those three measures, he is not corrupt.

Ah, but have I not said?:

At the moment, I am considering Ron Paul as a potential close call, but, I really can't say because I don't know enough about his political life.

So, I am considering the possibility that there might actually be a national politician... a Congressman even! From Texas even!!!! who might actually be principled and unscathed by political corruption.

Now, I'm not saying that he is, but there is the possibility.

Then there's a possibility that we agree.

I doubt it... he's a politician, not God. He's gonna fail somehow... I just need to look a little harder!!! I'll find his flaw, if it is the last thing I do... er maybe not. :eusa_shhh:
